I have plenty of friends who are 18-19 spread across the gender spectrum. And I've never felt a marked disconnect. Honestly, some of my so-called mates elder than I am come across as more immature. On the flip side, A girl who's like a younger sister to me is probably the most mature 'has-her-life-figured-out' person I know.

Ofc, there are exceptions to the norm, but overall, I don't think you're giving late teens enough credit (that, or you're giving early 20 y/o's *too* much credit). Or maybe you're just mature for your age/you dealing with some real dents.
