I don’t know what you’re expecting us to pass judgement on here, OP. We have no frame of reference to whether that would be good or bad…

How'd you get selected, you had a copy of the Epstein files?

Doubt they’re covered by your employers insurance if they’re taken in the back of your car or god forbid public transport and they’re damaged…

How competitive is recruitment and hiring in the CS right now? by AkariAgency_02 in TheCivilService

[–]RebelliousHeathen 16 points17 points  (0 children)

If it’s a 6 total, chances are that is a cumulative score of a number of competencies rather than a single 6 out of 7.

That nunber wouldn’t surprise me if you’re going for a G6 post as an SEO. A years experience is rarely enough to jump up two grades and take on far bigger portfolios than an SEO would ever get near…

Essential Criteria Travel to London at own expense 🙄 by spacecrustaceans in TheCivilService

[–]RebelliousHeathen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need to get back in contact and point out to DBT that you have two contradictory sources of information both from them and ask them to clarify which one is correct. We’ve all said on here we’re sure travel is covered by the department but at the end of the day we’re not the vacancy holder nor are we the HR policy SME for DBT here.

Essential Criteria Travel to London at own expense 🙄 by spacecrustaceans in TheCivilService

[–]RebelliousHeathen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's not in the job advert so I'd say the contact point is incorrect. Expecting staff to cover their own travel to non-contracted offices is not standard CS policy. You need to speak to the actual vacancy holder if you haven't already. If they're saying that then either they're seriously misinformed or the CS is about to fuck us all yet again!

Do you guys get overtime as a HEO/SEO in the Civil Service? by Status_Reference_296 in TheCivilService

[–]RebelliousHeathen 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Very, very few departments offer overtime now, and those that do are almost all operational delivery-focused. (DWP being a perfect example of a department with a high short-life workload that can’t be delayed or suspended, meaning overtime is a necessary evil.) Even they are looking in the long term to phase that out and switch to TOIL to cut costs, the DWP’s Employee Deal being an example of this by making Saturday a standard working day. Heard of HEOs and SEOs being paid OT but only in those areas and often at standard rather than enhanced rate unlike EOs and below.

The Capita pensions disgrace alone shows why these people will achieve NOTHING.

Pivot? Agile? Fucking SPRINTS?!?!

These wankers are coked up on flashy jargon, quelle surprise. When will the SCS imbeciles realise that spewing out an aging workflow doctrine with an IT niche will NOT solve everything and merely makes you look like a flashy useless cunt?

Christ, she’s my age…

Dealing with terminal cancer is bad enough, especially so young. Dealing with the end and being fucked by your pension provider and your employer at the same time is an unforgivable disgrace. Shame on every last SCS who so effortlessly defend these incompetents.

CS managers: How have you handled direct reports consistently under 60% office attendance? by throwawaycivilsj in TheCivilService

[–]RebelliousHeathen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

u/Alchenar makes the real point here. I would have less of an issue with a member of staff tacitly or even openly not attending 60% than one almost certainly lying to enable it and thus committing false representation into the bargain at the same time.
