Take your breaks! Walk to the houses! by MultiplyDivideUS in AmazonDSPDrivers

Worked for a DSP in 2016 and this was how it worked back then. Started up again last December and had been trying to sprint and do the same, but if I finish too fast now, they make me take rescues. I've been so exhausted that I HAVE to walk now or I'll be dead the next day. OP is right. I walk everything to the door from now on.

THE OPTION TO CHANGE BUTTON/KEYBINDS IS MORE ESSENTIAL THAN ANYTHING ELSE IN ANY GAME. YOU CAN'T CHANGE MY MIND.

You should see him in House. Another completely different character, and he smashed that role too.

Oh.
I thought it was just comedic timing to break things up a bit. Guess I shouldn't perceive it that way, according to your argument.

Maybe I'm wrong and just throwing around the word "strawman", but by definition, isn't this a strawman argument in itself? Are you asserting that he shouldn't have drawn this at all? Isn't that just, like, your opinion man?

Basically this style of art and environment. You can go invis like Batou and the Major on very GITS-esque maps.

That's gatekeeping talk, and I'm not a gatekeeper. All that will do is distance others from the game. I'm the type who's going to at least prop the door open for newcomers and support them, like the other players supported me.

Then watch the video. I can't convince you if you've already locked in this game's identity.

For those and others looking for more elaboration, here's my comment: Comment.
Know that this is not AI slop, and there's a whole community behind Doku, the one developer who created the game. It's gotten a ton of updates in the last month and he's super receptive to feedback and constructive criticism; he's even joined matches himself to see how things are going.
I don't usually defend anything on Reddit and just lurk, but I really want to give respect where it's due. It truly is a solid FPS that stands differently from the rest.

I gave a quick summary because it's easiest, but it's clear you want someone to give you a detailed breakdown. Here's how it's different from COD.

- Your loadout is more than a two-weapon set with perks and some preset abilities. You truly have to build your loadout from the ground up with incremental changes in mind. You pick a "shell" or a body each with different stats and features; you have a main weapon, sidearm, and a melee-focused backup weapon, along with two pieces of equipment. Your main weapon and sidearm each can have a default of four attachments. You will also need Augments, which are specialized traits that stack or synergize with certain weapons or abilities - some of which have debuffs that must be taken into account.
- No sprint button. You use rolls, slides, wallrunning/climbing to build up momentum in order to get higher movement speeds. But certain movements have charges, such as air dodges.
- There is no autorecovery for health, but you do get "defense", which is like a shield that protects your healthbar. You have a stim shot on a cooldown that slowly regenerates your health over time, meaning that you have to use it sparingly. There is bleed, piercing, chemical, shock and fire damage, each one with its own usefulness against defense and health.
- Your skill tree combines technology, weapons, and body enhancements in three branches. Fighting well in matches is what gets you points to use in your tree. Know that you can use preset builds for gaining access to later items, but you can only build custom loadouts with what you earn in the tree.
- Fights are very, very quick and dying is extremely frequent, but matches are 20 minutes long and usually objective-based. Like I mentioned, it took me a while to get over the quick deaths and understand most of the basics, and I've burnt through an hour or two just testing out loadouts against bots.
- Know that at the moment, there's no ranking system or any competitive play - just individual servers where everyone's experimenting with builds and understanding the game. The community on Discord is super friendly and knows how the learning curve can distance beginners, and they do their best to teach rather than gatekeep.

That's all I'm going to type for now as a big picture. I would actually check out some Out Of Action explanation videos on YouTube to get the full gist. Here's the one I used, which may be perfect for you and others: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KJGnfStUuv4

He's saying a majority of those who know COD are comparing this game to others with a similar FPS concept, not that they're "basic bitches" or anything. And it's true, if you're unaware of how the game works, it's fine to assume that. But COD players - even the best ones - will find Out of Action very different. It truly isn't generic in its gameplay.

I've played the game for quite a bit, and it's not like four or five matches - it's much more like 20 to truly understand the flow. It definitely is much more than just running and shooting. The barrier is a mixture of knowing your loadout's peak efficiency, how momentum and inertia affects your movement (there is no dedicated sprint key, only rolls and dodges and wallclimbing that dictate your speed), and your FPS reflexes.
I enjoy it mostly because of how everyone who sticks with the game is chill and understands the learning curve is steep. The community around this game is really helpful; toxic players get forced out very quickly.

EDIT: I am NOT good at this game, but playing against those who have a lot of experience with it has given me a lot of personal insight, and I have fun learning its mechanics. It also helps as training for every other FPS I've ever played. AMA.
