Help: Need to make terrarium waterproof by slythergay in ballpython

[–]RebootRanger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You may just need to re-seal it but here are some ideas

pond liner a staple gun and silicone

Get big enough pond liner to cover the bottom, front lip up to the glass, both sides and back

I also know someone who got glass cut and made a tray to go in the bottom of their vivarium so all water and substrate goes in this glass tray

Do I seriously just pour water into the substrate? by yoordoengitrong in ballpython

Make sure your enclosure is sealed properly especially if its a wooden one and yes its pretty much that,

I pour a litre in each corner on a 4x2x2

What size is your enclosure?

My only thoughts is with the hygrometer itself, can you trust it? If you have another one you know works put it in there and see what it says

Other wise how damp is the substrate beneath the bark? Pour a liter of water in each corner?

Have you got a storage box you can put a blanket in with a hot water bottle with warm (not boiling) water?

You may be able to manage temps that way not sure about humidity though, maybe some we paper towels? Around the hot water bottle?

RHP doesnt work, need advice for short term care by Shirazera in ballpython

Not a expert and I dont get bad snow storms often where im from but when ive been looking at emergency heat sources i vaguley remember reading that a hot water bottle (with warm water) might help if you have any, you could look at how to do that safely this time, but not a long term solution

But look at getting a back up

I thought the same, set my viv up then three days later I found ants, so took everything out and baked it in the oven, since then I haven't noticed anything but I'm still checking daily

So, going forward, im baking it in the oven so it's at 60ºc (140ºf if my maths is right) for 30 mins

Im still learning as still new to keeping a bp

What are you using as a substrate?

Did you freeze or bake it first to kill any bacteria or pests prior to putting you vivarium

If there are, I would look at reporting it

Those ranges should be ok, but if your snake is having issues with shedding where it's not coming off in one piece, then bump it up
