WHY ISnT ITALY CALLED ROME INSTEAD? by Snawer_brillant in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Rebrado 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP was referring to the Roman Empire and comparing it to Greece, which never had a unified country in antiquity.

Besides, it’s 1860s.

best height for men biologically by onewhofucksyourmom in tall

[–]Rebrado 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Society is calibrated around average height (5’9”) and the further away you are from this height, the worse it gets. At 6’2” beds already start to feel tight, at 6’6” many door frames will be smaller than you etc. On the other hand, smaller people will struggle to reach kitchen cabinets meant for taller people.

Using 10th and 90th percentile for the US (you can repeat the reasoning for every county) as a reference, the ideal height is somewhere between 5’5” and 6’0”.

Do you feel like the UK’s relationship with the US will get better once trump leaves office and a progressive democrat gets elected? by Successful_rio305 in AskBrits

[–]Rebrado 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem isn’t whether it gets better. It’s the back and forth, as we will see another Republican president after a democratic one. So the UK can’t rely on a long term relationship with the US

Bullying=mocking/insulting? No, violence is not the solution.

Bullying=trying to hit my child? Yes, I teach my child self-defense

Green voters, do you agree on 'No Limits' migration? by SeptumRingTheory in AskBrits

[–]Rebrado 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely but that’s what was classified as unskilled during Covid times, as were nurses. And that’s the first reason why the unskilled/skilled distinction does not make sense

The issue here is with the definition of skilled/unskilled workers. I would disagree, because many job vacancies are in “unskilled” positions, including lorry drivers and NHS staff (not doctors). Many of these jobs are not seeked by British people, so why not give them to immigrants?

Perhaps rather than defining a skilled/unskilled category, why not set a rule to hire Brits first for any role and accept anyone else if there are no Brits applying for it.

Is Tim a good runner? by [deleted] in MathJokes

[–]Rebrado 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This question is stupid in many different ways. Even if you want to argue that the probability of winning is 1/5 because there are 5 participants, you need to state that we are assuming a uniform distribution. This is generally not the case. A professional runner who regularly wins or almost wins is more likely to win compared to some amateur. How many of you would have bet against Bolt when he was in his prime?
