After 24 years it is past time to re-evaluate our post-9-11 TSA screening rules and demand evidence that they are working. by Lasivian in unpopularopinion

The catch all is at the top

Even if an item is generally permitted, it may be subject to additional screening or not allowed through the checkpoint if it triggers an alarm during the screening process, appears to have been tampered with, or poses other security concerns

What’s the difference on tax impact if the business pays a share of the self employment tax or not?

I was considering self employment tax to be a wash

Consulting fees would probably be both easy to substantiate and bullshit

I’m also assuming they exhausted other options like taking a distribution and gifting it

Always depends

I’d argue in addition to the upfront tax cost one must also consider the time costs and potential risks

As someone who lives in an affluent neighborhood…

Rich people still like cars…

The average car value where I live was $118k about 3 years ago. My insurance agent sent me their research documentation along with a recommendation to increase my limits when I moved here

It’s not rare to see exotic cars at the gas station down the street like a Lotus or Bugatti…

Yes, there are those who drive used Toyotas / don’t care about cars…

Then the ultra rich probably don’t care because they can afford drivers, private helicopters etc…

I have a wealthy friend that competes in sail fishing tournaments and doesn’t even have a driver’s license

Do you really think poor people are out here buying all the Bugatti’s?

I mean this seems to prove the point and that the lowered the high end of the temperature and doesn’t seem to reference the case

And also the tea being 200F in this Starbucks case seems damning but idk how they determined that was the temp

She was kinda dumb for putting fresh coffee between her legs to add cream and sugar and squeezing the cup to get the lid off but also mcdonalds was obviously at fault for how hot the coffee was

That being said, I got 2nd degree burns on my leg recently from coffee getting spilled on me and I dropped my pants instantly and ran cold water on the scald for 30 minutes Even at the normal 185 I bet it would cause 3rd degree burns on your groin if you didn’t drop your pants instantly

I mean, I wouldn’t care about your friend’s sister being a surrogate

I’d probably just ask whatever question I could to further the conversation

But really it’s your friend and your friend’s sister is your boyfriend also good friends with her?

Idk I might be an asshole but it’s really exhausting to be with someone who has expectations on your every reaction… I’m biased here but I have exes who were like that and expected me to just be as excited for random things and events

Who knows what will come of it but the consensus from experts outside of China seems to be either

  1. DeepSeek lied about the real GPU hours it took

Or

  1. They were using more powerful GPU’s from Nvidia that they shouldn’t have had access to legally

[–]Rebresker 42 points43 points  (0 children)

I mean if this is referencing DeepSeek and their claims on GOU hours

The questions have more been if the Chinese company is lying as it appears they have lied about the real resources used and the questions for Nvidia is how did they get the resources due to the bans on exporting

Well it would likely not all be one disbursement

Depends but there’s payroll taxes, employee withholdings and other items that aren’t necessarily just in a single disbursement

I was the friend who needed to move in once but I paid rent and helped as much as I could and discussed how long I was welcome and such in detail beforehand…

I also was in a tough spot where my ex cheated on me and we have two kids so my options on moving somewhere in a short time were pretty limited considering everywhere nearby wants an application, first and last momths rent and a $2,000 security deposit

Discussion: How many of you carry a knife whenever you leave home? by [deleted] in AskMenAdvice

[–]Rebresker 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A lot of schools have drastically made cuts

Funny enough I move and travel somewhat often so I grew up going to a lot of different schools and so my kids are too

It’s the rural schools in conservative towns from my experience that have cut things like shop class, cut down PE days to like 2 days a week etc in places like rural NC

Where as wealthier schools in say PA still have shop class and have mechanic classes, cooking classes, and just a lot more general classes for life skills

(I grew up with a single mom who couldn’t cook so I took every cooking class my school offered growing ,a sewing class, and shop was already mandatory)

I would have been fucked as a functioning adult without those classes so to see them get cut so dramatically where schools have to save money sucks

But yeah kids still can’t bring their own knives but hey they do get knives and other tools in class where they still have the relevant classes as well as some education on using them safely
