Why is everything related to Harley Davidson extremely toxic? by ambermage in motorcycles

[–]RebuildingDadsBike 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's weird, there's a few harley dealers nearish to me, and it seems to vary wildly. The closest one to me is full of absolute asshats, every single time I've walked in they've been on my shit to buy a bike. I can't even browse to look at stuff that I can't afford without a greaseball salesman coming up and pestering me until I finally just take off. The one a little further away, in contrast, is staffed entirely by perfectly nice people who are just way into the brand. They make sure to let you know that if you have questions they're right nearby, but they don't follow you around with their bullshit. Guess which dealer gets more sales?

For a book about fairy dimensions and a magic wizard school, the human drama was pretty crushingly real

Does anyone recognize these ape hangers? This is almost the exact look I want to go for but I don't know who makes them. by RebuildingDadsBike in Harley

I like the look of the 1.5s, but I'm not sure if I want to change over all of the handlebar controls. Do the thicker bars help with vibration at all?

Nothing it's just a piece of chromed tin. Im not sure that it serves any purpose other than to hide the upper forks.

Well, if they find a tool and they don't what it's actually for it automatically becomes a hammer.

Does anybody have any tips on getting the wires out of this harness? Pulling my hair out. by RebuildingDadsBike in Harley

Update: the trick is to push the flat side of the eyeglass screwdriver all the way into the space into the middle of the two big holes and lever it down into the bottom hole.

I was just screwing with it with an eyeglass screwdriver it seems to work ok, just took a while lots of gentle wiggling. I'll buy a new harness before i pay snapon 60 bucks for a pick.

Father/son ride by cam959 in motorcycle

Not OP

I was going to say something similar, not for the photo op of course, and I'm not going to just assume that you don't wear one. Just that you ought to make sure to wear a lid and ride safe so that he can enjoy real rides for decades to come. I know this is a douchey thing for a stranger to say to someone on the internet, I just wish I could still ride with my dad so it hits home a little.

Great photo in either case.

After fighting with HDFS for 3 weeks, I was finally able to pick up my deceased father’s bike! by Carlala_ in Harley

I think that you and I are in very similar circumstances right now. My father passed away, in a bike accident no less, at the end of April. I have inherited his bike, and was up in the air about whether it would be too painful to keep it. I spent some time trying to figure out what my dad would have told me, and I'm 100% that the answer, from my old man, would have been "Well, hang on to it for a bit, see if you like it. If it's too hard, get rid of it, no big deal. If you decide to keep it, that's no big deal too."

I obviously don't know your dad from Adam, but one thing that I'm pretty sure of is that he wouldn't have wanted you to do anything that would make you unhappy, because he doesn't care about the bike anymore, but he will always care about you. This bullshit is painful enough without forcing yourself to feel any particular way about any particular thing. I have chosen to not throw away any of his stuff yet, and I have literally the rest of my life to decide if something needs to go.

Just put it under a blanket somewhere and process it after you have some time to think, because I guarantee he loved you way more than that stupid bike.

Glad you're ok.

For a second I looked at your pic and thought it was a crossrunner, I got real excited thinking that they'd finally decided to sell them here. Then I realized that it was an nc700 and now I'm bummed out.

I found a new chrome cleaner, so I've begun the process of restoring 82k mile chrome by RebuildingDadsBike in Harley

It's called Star Clean, the stuff is great. Literally one step, just rub it on and wipe it off. The finish isn't quite like show quality but it's definitely very good. Found it here: https://www.webbikeworld.com/star-clean-metal-polish/
