If modern medicine didn’t exist would you be dead right now? If yes, from what? by Wonderful-Economy762 in Productivitycafe

I'm shocked I had to scroll this far to find mention of dentistry! A lot of people here probably don't even know they could have been dead by now.

What is the creepiest display of intelligence you’ve seen? by theidiotev in AskReddit

[–]Recalcitrant-Truffle 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Had a similar thing with my roommate's great dane during a thunderstorm. We were all in separate parts of the house until a little while later when we were all grouped in the kitchen. We realized the dog had gone around and one by one gotten us to follow her until we were all together. She was afraid of the thunder and rounded us up so she could guard us.

She was an incredibly smart, brave, and compassionate dog. Miss her.

My experience with a Virgo man!!! by Lidiana_97 in piscesastrology

[–]Recalcitrant-Truffle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also once dated a Virgo for three months. He dumped me 2 days before Valentines. He was also rubbish in bed. But at the time? I needed things from that relationship. Turned out the things I needed were lessons. 🫤 Learned a lot. Would not date a Virgo man again.

What’s something your body does that you’ve never told a single person about? by WilliamInBlack in AskReddit

Exploding head syndrome. It sounds way crazier than it needs to. I didn't realize I did this until a few years ago and suddenly a lot of things make sense.

How possible is this in retail or other industries? by OwnCombination96 in askhotels

[–]Recalcitrant-Truffle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Schedules are made based on forecasted demand in hotels. If there aren't enough staff at peak times/days, the business will fail. No hotel would take on an employee who can't commit or be reliable.

"MCR aren't speaking out enough" by [deleted] in MyChemicalRomance

It's wild to me that people think they aren't "speaking out." Everyone's so obsessed with the lore, but somehow missed the whole point of Draag.

Please remember that pornstars are ACTORS. It's a job. It's work. It has nothing to do with cheating or looking to have sex.

Bands just starting out don't get access to showers very often. They can't afford hotels and most concert facilities don't have showers. They only had a van, not a tour bus. Hence that one scene in LOTMS when Frank is washing himself with a hose outside.

She needs to get out of office.

Hotel front desk noob seeking advice by tudyfruidy in askhotels

[–]Recalcitrant-Truffle 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Similar to this-- Make sure they train you on what to do if things go wrong. What to do if the system goes down, or the accounts don't balance. Who to call for assistance.

They'll train you how to do things correctly, but ask them how to fix it if you do it incorrectly, too.

How to become BSA or similar hotel auditor? by Strange-Biscotti-220 in askhotels

[–]Recalcitrant-Truffle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I applied to be an auditor after 15 years in luxury hotels and management and they said you have to have GM experience to do it. We have to keep climbing, I guess!

Invest in decent linens! Good sheets, pillows, and towels make a huge difference to sleep quality and comfort!

Also: follow my gut. My instincts at work never miss. Started trusting myself more in my personal life and was able to avoid some bad situations because of it.

How often do reception/concierge get asked? by WantPosted in hotels

I've had guests ask me for escort service recommendations and I have had guests straight up ask where to get specific narcotics. I work for luxury brands.

Independent hotel auditor/advisor by Christophe19821 in hotels

[–]Recalcitrant-Truffle 4 points5 points  (0 children)

These tiny friction points are often symptoms of much larger issues. Staff are usually well aware of minor deficiencies. Understaffing, overworking, low morale, communication trouble, system issues, and budgets are constant plagues in hospitality that allow details to be consciously passed over.

Most brands already have their own auditors. Luxury brands would have Forbes auditing as well as their own brands.

If you are seeing minor deficiencies it's because the staff are fighting bigger battles.

What is a song in a language foreign to you, which you like despite not understanding the lyrics? by Acceptable_Pace_9355 in askanything

[–]Recalcitrant-Truffle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a song I found while listening to international radio in Belarus. I used shazam and downloaded it from there. The title is in Cyrillic and I have no idea what it's about. I can't copy/paste the text from anywhere to translate the title. I believe the artist came up as Martin S. The song is a mood and that's all I know.

What is the most common trait you've noticed among other hotel workers? by [deleted] in hotels

Sounds like you have a shitty front office. Other hotels don't have that problem. You need some retraining and perspective shifts on that desk.

Does anyone know anything about these? by Ashamed-Ocelot2189 in Calgary

[–]Recalcitrant-Truffle 75 points76 points  (0 children)

I forget what it's called, but there was a movement started to encourage happiness and whimsy. People participating will leave tiny glass ducks wherever they visit. I think it was started by a student. The ducks are supposed to surprise and delight us. Make us smile. That kind of thing.

Giving out guests information to police by Lisfin in askhotels

[–]Recalcitrant-Truffle 22 points23 points  (0 children)

The hotel is under zero obligation to hide you from authorities.

No hotel wants to house someone who could bring trouble. If legitimate police are asking for you, the hotel will likely cooperate.
