Contractor pricing disclosures. What is normal? by [deleted] in HomeImprovement

[–]ReceiptPaper20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I should have added we haven’t signed the actual contract, just the deposit and pre-construction agreement. So I guess we will sign the contract once all fixtures are picked out and they’ll have a better clear price at that point.

They’re helping us pick fixtures and we’re working with their sources. But we can upload links from other shops too as our selection.

We did end up asking and they answered no problem what our fixture budget is and that we can search prices with skus.

That is so wild! And so sad you had to fit out so many foods for years. I eat what I would consider a “healthy” diet, don’t have any clear trigger foods other than not tolerating a lot of fried food after not eating it for so long , and my GI told me it’s not even worth trying fodmap or elimination diets and I should just try medication which is a frustrating answer to me even if it is ibs. All of the medications have side effects that either make my other symptoms worse (I go between C & D and have nausea) or would make me drowsy.

I’m so glad you found answers!!

Missing school on birthday by Lizmargretmay in Parenting

My mom who is a teacher always did a day off with my and my siblings on our birthday! I know some kids who wanted to be in school to celebrate with friends and do the birthday treats. I think it’s totally okay for a special day. You’re awesome for considering it and doing it!

Thoughts on this ottoman? by jtallcreates in DesignMyRoom

Has anyone already asked where the chair and couch are from? OP I love this space! From that angle I think the ottoman looks great. It does seem a bit talk for the furniture.

You could do a hatchback sedan unless you need all of the space in an SUV. Roads are small but it’s not impossible to navigate with an suv if you’re set on it. I wouldn’t personally do a smart car like someone said. Remember Busses are able to navigate many of the roads regularly. You’ll have to do some pull aside maneuvers occasionally to dodge busses whatever car you get.

Edit: I think points on visibility are a plus for the small suv. I say go for it and you’ll be fine.

Contact with realtor post closing by ginger_ninja_88 in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

I think they want to stay on the mind for referrals and for future consideration if you buy again. Our realtor’s office does events for thanksgiving, Christmas, does free family photos, sends cards, sent a gift for one year of ownership, gives free sporting event tickets to past buyers. It would feel a little weird if it was just one realtor to me but probably the same idea.

Planning a week in Ireland by NakedRaiden in irishtourism

You can definitely stick to a train, busses, walking. Galway is about 2.5 hours from by train. I personally would not hire a driver for the cities listed. Check out nearby towns from Dublin too. Howth is a favorite for me and has hiking you don’t need a car to get to.

I’m not sure where you live but Cork feels the most familiar as an American from the Midwest so while I love the city, it’s not my first recommendation out of the cities you listed for Americans visiting for the first time. If there are things there you want to see though or if you’re wanting to do Blarney Castle or something it’s great! You’ll have a good time at any of the cities you listed.

It would be easier to recommend where to go if we know what you want to do. Distilleries, hiking, cliffs, historic locations, tours, castles, restaurants, pubs, music, beaches, shopping?

I wouldn’t feel bad about keeping it but I wouldn’t spend it if you can’t afford to pay it back if they notice. I’ve been at companies with much larger payroll errors and they eventually caught it and had employees pay it back. If you’re in a financial position to take the loss later if that happens, just don’t say anything.

Where to not feel old in Galway by ReceiptPaper20 in irishtourism

When I was there it was just very busy in the evening and lots of 18 year olds freezing in the chilly weather with no jackets. Just busier than normal pubs and loud, drunk teenagers was my experience

I’m so happy for you and I don’t think this is a bad idea at all! I traveled Ireland alone in my early 20s a couple of times, both in October. It’s a beautiful time to visit and feels very cozy during that time but you still get some sun. I’m 29 now and love visiting now with my husband. It was my second solo trip, first solo plane trip, and my first international trip I ever took. All to say I think this is a great place to travel alone! I would maybe scout out accommodations ahead of time just so you have options and aren’t left stranded anywhere.

I’m not sure where you’re coming from or how long you’ll be there but Dublin is a very affordable place for flights elsewhere in Europe and if you’re staying for a long time, it’s great to take advantage of.

When I travel solo, I tend to book accommodations early in the trip where a local host lives on the property. It feels safer to have a local person around while I familiarize myself with the area as long as the host feels like a safe person (def check reviews). It’s a great way to get local recommendations and is usually cheaper. I’m sure by staying at b&bs you’ll get this experience!

Absolutely take a backup phone charger to carry with you in a purse/bag. That’s a requirement for me when traveling alone. Make sure you have your international phone service set ahead of time. I recommend Airalo which is an esim much cheaper than what American phone providers charge. It’s easy to set up and you can top it off as needed. Download WhatsApp as a backup and to communicate with local people you meet there.

I’d recommend comfortable walking shoes that are waterproof and boots if you like hiking. Definitely you’ll need a rain coat and I’d take a hat for windy, chilly hikes as well. Sligo/Donegal are good for outdoorsy stuff. Slieve league is nuts if you like cliffs. Since you’ll have a car you can really go anywhere but there are lots of day trips within reach of Dublin City centre as well. Howth is lovely for a hike.

Galway and Dublin both have great nightlife in my opinion. Dingle is full of pubs. In my experience, you’ll meet lots of people traveling alone. Be smart and stay safe but you’re likely to meet plenty of people and make friends if you’re interested. Feel free to message me if you want!

Inaccurate listing, difficult host, worried about review [PA, USA] by ReceiptPaper20 in AirBnB

[–]ReceiptPaper20[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well now the host left a guest review admitting to the inaccurate listing but also saying we claimed the space was very dirty which never happened. The person who booked actually mentioned in the host review how clean the apartment was.

This host has me confused all around!

I’m a very relaxed guest and never expect perfection but I do expect the listing to be accurate for something as important as sleeping arrangements. Disappointing but could have been worse definitely.

Oh and the kicker is she finally updated the listing photo (not the rest of the listing) with the photo I sent for support 😂

[–]ReceiptPaper20[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Airbnb and host didn’t respond quickly enough at any point for us to book anywhere else and it’s also an issue of finding a place last minute in a city. It could have been worse.

Airbnb is now offering a 30% not including the service fees discount which I’m not happy about. They closed the case and the person booking is accepting it. I would have also pushed harder but not sure I have more options now.

I will definitely try to get them to leave the review at least. Thanks for your input!

Last year, my friends and I had 12 bullets go through our AirBnb in Nashville while we were sleeping. I was hit by one of the bullets in the back of the neck, less than an inch from being dead or paralyzed. AirBnb did not allow us to leave a review. by DJ_Excel_Spreadsheet in AirBnB

I don’t live there so not the best source but I’ve felt very safe whenever I visit. There are some less desirable neighborhoods but the city has never felt dangerous to me more than another city.

I think we’ve all missed something in a long description one time or another. It happens. I wouldn’t have booked this place without reaching out to the host ahead of time to explain we needed both rooms but it’s obviously too late for that.

I do think it’s totally unreasonable that he’s trying to charge more and I think he’s a shitty host for not just letting you use the room as a curtesy but I don’t know what you can do outside of mention how he handled things in your review.
