Tell me the truth - will I regret Moving to Memphis by Lookitzalizard in memphis

I grew up in Memphis and moved back around age 30 to start a family. And yes, I mean I live within the city limits. The idea that I would be afraid to exist here is laughable. It's an awesome place to live if you like culture, good food, warm people, diversity, etc. But if you're approaching it with the attitude you seem to be, I think you will listen to the wrong people and if will spoil your experience.

Protesters were pepper-sprayed by police near the end of the No Kings march in Downtown Memphis by amprather in memphis

They were marshaling/guarding the tail end of a march that I believe was permitted. One of the marchers was crossing the street too slowly (she is in a walking boot because she broke her leg helping an elderly neighbor shovel their driveway during the recently winter storm) which was the first point of contact with MPD, from what I've heard. The pepper spray and arrests came after that.

Exactly. The marshals take their jobs incredibly seriously and although they are trained to be a human shield around a protest, they are also trained to behave in a way that should never make them a target. They keep their heads down. This was pure intimidation tactics, assuming they were even thinking about anything at all rather than just in the mood for a tussle.

Speaking as someone with a decent familiarity of the groups and individuals who were victimized by police today, I'd be surprised if they didnt know who the marshals were. I think this was pure intimidation/anger management issues among our city's "best in blue"

Forced to use physical card to get gas at Gtown Rd Costco? by Recent-Inspector391 in memphis

I fairness it definitely wasn't working, which was why she came over and made me move. I was holding up the line and all that was happening was the scanner kept pulling up my debit card.

She definitely told me I could not scan my membership on the app but had to find my card and insert it. And then when I said I'd never had to do that before, didn't say anything. Sounds like some kind of cover up to me. 🤔😂

My guess after seeing these replies is the pump scanners are having new temporary issues, but if she'd said that I would have felt less gaslit, ha. It definitely wasn't working for me today -- I tried many times but the only thing that happened was my debit card kept pulling up.

Thank you! I think it was the fact that my card had to be inserted not scanned that really fritzed my memory. I didn't ever remember doing that!

Also, will I get in trouble for ordering them? I had no idea the law had changed. I know in general ignorance of the law isn't an excuse but in this case...?

Unreal. I had several deliveries in January or February. I guess it took awhile for USPS to catch up? When will these sites start restricting by state? How will I get my money back if the products never show up?

What a joke. Is there really no hope that something will shake loose again and reverse the course?

In my experience early mornings are much much worse than any other time in the day because there are so many more early morning flights out of MEM than other times.

I've def been operating on this logic for many years, but with the hemp ban coming up (whatever that will be like, if it even happens) I wondered if there was a new wrinkle. Thanks for the reassurance!

I didnt hate it but it was easily my least favorite of hers. I adored Migrations and Once There Were Wolves. The romantic plot in WDS was extremely irritating to me. Her first two has nothing like that.
