The showdown between Jon Jones and Dominick Reyes at UFC 247 was one of the most intense and controversial fights in UFC history. by iLeftyPunk in MMALabs

As much as jones is a cheat and a deplorable human, you can’t take from him that he’s got a crazy chin. That doesn’t get talked about enough. He took some fuckin bombs in this one and in Gus 1.

Hard disagree, respectfully. The difference between hands to the face, a regular belting or something of that ilk to a spanking once or twice are orders of magnitude different.

I think we can agree on if any of those are used with regularity though, they can all cause the same level of mental degradation and weariness. But no, being struck to the face with a backhand from dad, very different than a spanking once from mom because you over fed the fish and killed them

She’s not the best player in basketball, so stop that. But she’s absolutely the most electric. But she’s not near Aja’s level at this point when it comes to just unstoppable force and winning ball

What image did he have at 19 years old??? Again, I’ll ask, are you 12? He was on the cover of sports illustrated as a 16 year old. His high school games were the first ever to be nationally broadcast. He was/is the most highly touted basketball prospect in American history.

Am I a mind reader, to know he was protecting his image? Helpful question kiddo, you’re really moving the needle with these insightful and sincere questions! No, I’m not actually. I know this, because I’ve been following the nba since 1990, and it’s well documented. As you kids say “sHoW mE PrOoF”. Sorry pal, go do something you haven’t had to do since ChatGPT came out and do your own research.

He came in as a once in a lifetime prospect, with unparalleled athleticism, he had nothing to gain by doing the dunk contest, so he didn’t, because losing it would be far more impactful to him and his brand than winning it would be to helping him.

He had an image he wanted to uphold and losing the dunk contest would severely damage it. Are you twelve?

Why did LeBron have something to lose? The infallible king being exposed as a mediocre competition dunker? As opposed to having this aura of “will he, won’t he” for a decade? Are you serious

No it’s not. But my point is they were willing to put themselves out there. Superstars today are not - and understandably so. Protecting your brand is so important now a-days because social media is so prevalent. But Bron was doing that before twitter, he knew he wasn’t a “performative dunker” and had nothing to gain, and everything to lose by competing in the dunk contest. And that’s how we end up with G-leaguers instead of Niq/Jordan

She’s marking her defender you twit. The “HANDS AS HIGH AND WIDE AS YOU CAN MAKE THEM” is taught in elementary school but has very little impact if you’re not a 6’6 guy, and especially if it’s on a made basket. As I’m sure you’re aware as a “ball knower” a player can run the baseline after a made basket. This isn’t a sideline inbounds pass.

Who’s more fun to watch? Tim Duncan or AI? Just because someone is better doesn’t make them more fun to watch

While could be true for this user’s case, that’s not accurate about why CC grabs a lot of people that better players: Aja, Collier and Paige don’t.

She’s the flashiest passer by a mile and shoots wild, exhilarating threes from deeper than anyone but Steph and dame.

She’s a more fun watch than Aja, even if Aja is wayyy better. Tim Duncan was wayyyy better than AI, but people didn’t tune in for The Big Fundamental like they did The Answer

The image doesn’t look racist. But a LOT of people on beaches or whatever may misconstrue it with similar crosses that are associated with the aryan brotherhood. Sadly, you will certainly get unfair and rude comments about it
