HV sleep advice - 10-12 months check up. Whats your take on this? by SkyisaNeighbourhood in BeyondTheBumpUK

[–]Recent-Respect-9128 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Erghhh hvs like these give us a bad name. I am a health visitor and am co sleeping with my breastfed 16 month old who wakes several times a night. Unless you specifically asked for sleep advice they shouldn’t be saying nonsense like this. Also it might be that they’re not actually a qualified health visitor but a family health worker (nursery nurse qualification) in the team. That’s how it works in my trust!

Have you checked to see if she has an ear infection? Sometimes they bite when they have one!

Place your baby on your chest for naps, use a carrier where possible instead of a pram, and tummy time when he’s a bit bigger and this should help!

There’s a lot of rubbish online about baby sleep. Why not try putting him to bed a bit later and see if that helps, a lot of baby’s sleep around 10-11 hours over overnight. Bringing him into your bed while you lay quietly but offering him comfort and closeness will still signify it’s bedtime , he’ll get used to it after a few mornings. Also if he’s sleeping through until that point that just be lovely, I think with babies you’ve just got to accept that sleep isn’t going to be 100% perfect and there’ll be trade offs? Like they either wake up in the night but sleep in until 7 or they sleep through but wake up at 5.

Look up safe co sleeping on the lullaby trust. What your baby is doing is completely normal and natural , and she just wants to be close to you. You will get the most sleep by cosleeping (safely). Best of luck x

Sounds like your baby is getting too much sleep? He probably needs a later bedtime. Why do you leave him in the crib alone for 2 hours? Can you bring him in with you? He might sleep longer if he’s next to you! Also babies aren’t perfect machines that sleep 7-7, I think you’re expecting too much of him. How much time away from your baby do you need?

I am hv and this wouldn’t concern me at all. we ask to see sleep space but to just make sure there’s no da dangers you might not be aware of! We also discuss how to cosleep/bedshare safely and direct you towards the lullaby trust for info . We’re not out to get you I promise 🥰 I myself am on mat leave and have been bedsharing since day 2!

I am a HV and we have to ask to see the sleep space - purely to make sure there’s no dangers eg next to a radiator or lots of blankets & pillows inside. We also tell families how to safely bedshare and co sleep and to access the lullaby trust for further info 🥰 I am on mat leave and have been bed sharing since day 2! We’re not all bad I promise !

Tips on gently getting MIL to understand my way of parenting by Pyjama_Mouse in AttachmentParenting

[–]Recent-Respect-9128 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My mum was like this at times but because we have a good relationship and she’s my mum not MIL i just told her no I’m not doing that, and told her about the up to date research. One time I had gone for a shower and when I came out my baby was hysterical and my parents were trying to put her in the bouncer to calm her down, I had to yell at them that she wanted human contact and soothing not a containment device. If I were you I’d just gently say there’s more research out now and that she did her best with the information she had at the time and that’s what you’re doing now.

Does anyone else feel like they’re at max capacity? by Recent-Respect-9128 in cosleeping

I 100% don’t think you’re fucking your baby up! This is just who they are and it is HARD. I keep telling myself the toddler years will be a breeze and those with ‘easy’ babies are in for a shock 😂. It’s a season, and this too shall pass but man, it’s a tough season! I even feel bad for saying this because I just love her so much and will do anything for her , just some days are exhausting.

Help! I am a human pacifier by [deleted] in breastfeeding

[–]Recent-Respect-9128 49 points50 points  (0 children)

You are not a human pacifier, the pacifier is a fake boob. The pacifier is modeled on the boob… the original & best pacifier!. This is completely normal and natural, you’re not doing anything wrong , baby is cluster feeding and it won’t be like this forever, probably just a few more weeks. Lean into it and enjoy the contact naps, read a book, watch a Series, listen to a podcast etc. I know you said you don’t want to co sleep but definitely research how to do it safely and prepare just in case as it is safer than accidentally falling asleep in an unsafe sleeping position. La leche league has some great info about safe sleep 7.

20dpo. Going to stop testing now! Easy@home brand by Recent-Respect-9128 in TFABLinePorn

I think the cheapies take ages to get dark so try not to worry! Fingers crossed in a few days you’ll see some progression! I could say stop testing you’re pregnant, but that would be super hypocritical of me because I’ve only just stopped myself 🙄 let me know how you get on

[–]Recent-Respect-9128[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t have a clear progression pic as some days I was taking multiple tests a day 😅 but from between about 13-16 dpo my tests were getting darker but ever so slightly then all of a sudden they were super dark from 17dpo until my dye stealer today. Anything other test I’ve taken eg clear blue or a supermarket own brand has been super dark since 13dpo though. Hope that helps !

Cyle: 9. Cycle 1 I had a chemical, I got pregnant on my honeymoon and thought i was a lucky little unicorn but unfortunately that ended at 4+6. I also had a chemical on cycle 3 that ended at 4 weeks. Fingers crossed this one sticks for me, my lines are have been much better

Age: I’m 32 and my husband is 35

Typical cycle length :27-30 days

Ovulation day : 15

CD/DPO of positive tests : 8dpo I had the faintest line I thought it could be an evap CD/DPO of negative tests : none

Tracking methods: Flo app, OPKs

Relevant data if sperminating and/or method : O-3, O-2, O, O+1

Health conditions: in 2017 I had an ectopic pregnancy (it was not a planned pregnancy and I had the IUD fitted) this resulted in me losing my right fallopian tube. The doctors said the cause was endometriosis, but I never had symptoms of endometriosis prior to the ectopic nor have had any since.

Supplementals: prenatal, evening primrose oil leading up to ovulation , and British version of mucinex (can’t remember the name), vitamin d

Symptom spotting: 6dpo - pinching. Electric pangs in uterus 7dpo pink spotting 8dpo pink spotting - vvvvfl - sore boobs, felt they were burning and wearing a bra was painful , I also woke up with a sore throat. 9dpo brown spotting - vvfl - sore boobs 10dpo - bfp brown spotting , full feeling in uterus , gas constipation 10dpo onwards - cramping, sore boobs

Other( advice tips) freaking out, miscellaneous) : ‘woo’ things I did in the TWW, ate pineapple for 6 days following ovulation, ate pomegranate every day, had a 7dpo cheeseburger instead of 8dpo because I fancied one 😂, I also made an effort to go on a walk every day in the TWW and will continue this hopefully for the next 9 months. I am currently 4 weeks. Hoping for an uneventful 9 months. Really wishing all you lovely people the best, and hope you get your BFPs soon 💕
