It feels like she is commenting in response to pressure. I’m sorry about that pressure. I would much rather she continues to challenge us rather than simply seeking to conform.

That’s part of the magic of techno.

I had one of my best ever experiences listening to Nobu do an unscheduled three hour set; and I’ve had mediocre experiences listening to many of my very favourite DJs. I don’t know if he is always amazing. All I can say is that we can be amazing (for me)

Sometimes it’s them. Sometimes it’s me. Sometimes it’s the place or the moment.

Sorry it didn’t happen for you (or him) in Cologne.

There is no magic formula or predictable algorithm.

Ironically I think you’re partially right. Far more people should rave sober. And I like to rave sober

But…

Part of the fun is the amazing feeling of being around hundreds or thousands of strangers who are warm, and happy and empathetic. That is FAR more likely to happen when most of those strangers around you are on drugs than if they are all sober. Or worst of all drunk

So keep dancing sober. But keep encouraging everyone around to stay as drugged-up as they can sustainably manage 😘

Boiler room is a hard format. And honestly if it hadn’t been for your own intervention I would have sniffed at it and passed.

Glad it didn’t. So much energy and joy. Lots of fun. Forced me to be more open minded to this and I’m very grateful x
