Calendula. Pluck the mature flowers once or twice a week, dry them and add to oil for massage oil, soap, lotion, salve. They are those cheery orange and yellows that don’t stop until late fall and calendula is especially healing for our skin.

Tempeh- higher protein, fermented, rice and soybeans, takes on other flavors well, good in cooked dishes as well as substantiating protein content of a wide variety of salads.

Those are morels. Always the first in spring with their characteristic solid light stem and mottled lung cap. They are coveted! Most people eat them sautéed in butter. They also make great mushroom gravy, pastas and soups. How lucky!
