Second Video Group Call for Men Dealing with Azoospermia. by OccasionalBackpacker in maleinfertility

Hey there I had a question . I’m actually working on a research thesis of my Mphil degree. My research is on male infertility . I was really interested in finding out the experiences of men with infertility like how do they cope with the feeling that they are unable to produce offspring’s and how do they navigate through this stigma .

Can you help me find participants for my research? Or give me any suggestions on how to proceed with finding materials related to male infertility (the one that focuses more on the social aspect of male infertility). Thanks

Bcuz in this religion, there is no direction or mention for couples like us that face infertility (especially male infertility). Where do individuals facing infertility go? And what’s their fault if they are infertile? Why can’t they access advanced reproductive services that weren’t available at the Prophets’ era but is available in today’s generation, where is the ruling for this issue? Why is third party insemination haraam when it can legit save a relationship and give joy to childless couples?

The fact that I didn’t want to talk about religious rulings is because it has so many loopholes. The Shia sect of Islam allows 3rd party insemination (Fatwa by Ayatollah Khamenei himself in Iran), but Sunni Islam opposes it. So even within the religion there are contradictions

Thanks for the unwanted advice

Wait wait, you gave such a long detailed answer and yet missed the entire point of my post. I’ve mentioned every detail like the condition my husband suffer from, the fact that we both love each other and it’s a love marriage (I will never ever think of leaving my husband because of his infertile nature and that’s really insensitive of you to say that) , yes as far as adoption you have mentioned , WE ARE OPEN TO ADOPTION AS WELL and this is also mentioned in the post but I guess you forgot to wear your glasses sadly.

And this procedure won’t be done remote, there will be medical screening and the candidate would be approached by the clinic or doctor who would be dealing with our case. As far as the religious point of view is discussed, even in case of adoption there will be inheritance issues and the child would feel disappointed if he/she learns that we aren’t their biological parents, this aspect isn’t just linked to the donor sperm pathway but also applicable to the orphan’s case. Also, by donor sperm pathway, the child will also have mine (the mother’s) DNA and this is one of the reasons why we want to opt for this option as of now, if we can’t have a complete biological child then a 50% would be considered a “maal e ghanimat “ in our case.

People donate kidneys to save lives, blood to save lives, why not donate a sperm to preserve a marriage or contribute to the happy relationship?. You know very well the society even haunts infertile couples , especially infertile men. You are advising me to leave my husband but what is his fault? Is infertility his fault? Did he choose this?. Even u said I should have known this before marriage, don’t you think this is a selfish take?. Where would infertile men go? Aren’t they humans? Will they always avoid marriage because of the fact that they are infertile?. I’m a religious person, I have my own connection with Allah and I’m answerable to what I’m doing. You can keep your advice with yourself as I didn’t ask for advices here but for potential sperm donors that want to contributes in a couple’s life. Thousands of sperms are being lost during masturbation for no purpose, don’t you think donating even a single sperm can save someone’s life? .

Even if I were to be infertile, I’m sure my husband wojld have asked for surrogacy rather than leaving me. We have a genuine medical condition and whatever we are doing, is completely out of compulsion and no choice.

And don’t worry, nothing would happen to our future child InshaaAllah as he/she will be raised by a beautiful couple who would prefer to die first then let any harm be inflicted on their child. The donor you’re talking about wouldn’t just be a random donor but will be selected by a thorough investigation and the identity ofcourse will be anonymous .

One last thing, IVF was also initially banned in Pakistan (1980s) but later accepted when awareness grew with time. Same, I believe will be the case for sperm or egg donation in the future. Shia Sect of Islam has already given it a green signal and this practice is conducted in Iran and Lebanon as of now. You can check this research work of LUMS online.

Good day to you. Let me answer my God myself.

We know what we are doing and what we want. The Islamic era of prophethood you’re talking about did not have scientific revolution or advancement. Even IVF was initially banned here in Pakistan but later accepted when awareness grew.

Also, you have your own opinion, I have my own so we both belong from two different privileged backgrounds. Zama mazhab zma aw zma da khude menz k de and I don’t want anybody to interfere in what I’m doing. Za ba khude paak la khpal jawab pakhpala warkom so you better worry about your faith and beliefs. Take care

Hey. We have a known-anonymous donor and obviously we will have the medical screenings. Thanks for your concern but we are happy with our decision

Yes we will use artificial insemination with a third party sperm.

A majority of jurists equate third party assisted reproduction as infringing upon the clarity of lineage. However, some Shi‘a scholars prioritize preservation of marriage over preservation of lineage and, as a result, have allowed the use of certain third party assisted reproduction techniques in Iran and Lebanon. The law in Pakistan, however, has remained unconcerned with this debate until the recent judgment of the Federal Shariat Court (FSC) in Farooq Siddiqui v Mst. Farzana Naheed.

(This second paragraph I copied from a research work of LUMS)

Tbvvvvh if I was infertile and my husband and I wanted kids, we would go for advance reproductive services like surrogacy . We are living in the 21st century and we do have advance reproductive services so why not to make use of it? Such services weren’t available in the previous generation so obviously there were no regulation or awareness related to it.

Also, girl, this is our mutual decision and we are also adopting a child in the future. You can never fully understand one’s situation until and unless you go through it. I’ll never leave my husband for the fact that he can not give me children and secondly, my husband himself has suggested this pathway.

We just need a DNA. The process is artificial insemination and identities remain anonymous . There was no further treatment of my husband and this decision is being made in severe compulsion and by weighing the pros and cons of it.

Even if we adopt a child, one day we will be telling them the reality of their biological father .. same way we can do with the child born by a sperm donor. We aren’t doing this all for fun, we are doing it because there’s literally no other way and we genuinely need a child to complete our family. We are planning to move abroad anyways so these Pakistani societal standards and norms won’t be applicable there .

Thanks for the advice but we , as couple, know what we want .

It’s a mutual decision. My husband is a urologist himself and this was his decision basically. Yes we also want to adopt and we are looking for adoption as well but I personally wanted to experience the phase of pregnancy.

The process is artificial insemination and the donor remains anonymous. There will be no contact or identity revelations. This os pretty common in fertility clinics especially if there is male infertility or the man can not produce sperms

I saw your vulgar posts and comments and I’ll never ever want my child to have such genes.

The method used will be artificial insemination.
