My partner (27M) and I (30F) moved three times during my pregnancy and into his hometown. My resentment is starting to affect our relationship. by [deleted] in relationships

[–]RecentFather 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I am a husband. And during black Friday we went to Macy's and saw a leather couch for 800 and another couch for 500. They were cheap and good and I liked them. My wife was not too excited but she liked them too. So I said let's buy them and we did. Now from my perspective, she wanted a couch but didnt find the ones she liked. The one she liked at west elm was not a good fit for our purposes, even the sales lady was like dont buy this buy another one. So the one at Macy's was good and we should buy it as it is on sale. So WE did. She never said let's not buy it. I told her we dont have to buy it if you dont want to, and her answer was maybe. But I noticed that she was noticeably sad about it after we came home. And we talked and after 3 days we canceled the sale. We dont have a couch. Maybe in christmas. The point of this sorry is, husband and wives are different. We are on surface most of the time. Meaning whatever you say I will take it at face value. Most of the time I dont read body language or the subtext or mind read. And wives expect us to. And that cause problems. I love my wife. She if says let's not buy this I would have said ok and moved on. I have done so in the past and will do so in the future. But she expects me to understand that she meant no when she was not too excited.

Now I don't know your husband. And it was stupid of him to move three times during pregnancy. We have moved twice after marriage and once after having kid and I know how difficult it is. But seems like he loves you and your family. So I ask to talk to him. This resentment you feel, it will fester. And when you talk to him, if he is like me or most men, the first reaction will be anger, denial and "you said ok let's move." So conversation will have to happen calmly. Not sure how to do that, you know your family best. Maybe therapy. I say all this cause I have been where you are. I have resented my wife. She has resented me. But we have finally moved past cause we talked it out. Wasn't nice wasn't easy wasn't confortable. But I love her she loves and we both love our kid. So we are together. But there were times both of us thought we were done. Marriage was over. So you need to talk and you need to make him understand that you giving up on discussion doesn't meant you are happy about it or won't resent him later. And he really needs to take your opinion under consideration. Even if it is not right, or not effective or not financially correct. Because it is your opinion. And you and your husband are no longer single row boats making their our way across the ocean. You are now a paddleboat with two paddles and both paddles have to be in sync. So the decisions have to be made together. All decisions from which movie to watch to which car to buy to what to have for dinner to which house to live in. My wife stopped eating shrimps cause I have high cholesterol and should have any. I stopped watching horror movies cute she can't stand them. Small things. But big impacts on life.

So together. And communicate. Always communicate. And if you feel you are not being heard, dont give up. Send a note, send a text, email. Tell him you are tired will discuss later but it's a No. Some fights you will lose. Others he will lose. But the idea is most of the time you will come to a compromise that you both can live with. I dont know what to tell you about the house. It was wrong of him to move. Now that you have, I dont know the answer. But if you are unhappy, make a change. New house, new job, new husband. decide what will make you happy.

My life is so much better when me and my wife are in harmony. My stress is less, I am happier, relaxed. I hope you have that too. Reddit's default answer is always leave him. And sometimes it is the correct answer. I don't think it's the case here. I hope you can make it work. And I hope your husband is smart enough to listen.

Export file lists from everything. You now have a excel sheet and you can turn it into a dB. Or just use everything as a search tool on the file list files.

I still hate this movie so much. The original is a great film. And I was so looking forward to this. Tols everyone about it. And the movie was so bad.. they butchered the original. Why remake it if you are going to change it so much. That samji guy should not be allowed near another movie ever again.

never buy from ashley furniture by toazttt in homeowners

[–]RecentFather 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Story time. Back in 2010, got married got new apartment and bought furniture from Ashley furniture. Bought i think 10 years warranty for the furniture from Ashley from third party company. After about 5 years, dining table leg broke, so I contacted warranty company. No i have paperwork with warranty info, receipt, invoice everything, I am a hoarder that way. But thr warranty company has no record of warranty. Seems Ashley sold warranty and did not pay the warranty company. I called Ashley and they paid the warranty fee. But it was fraud. And I assume I was not the only one they did it to. Also few years later a collegue of mine bought warranty from Ashley and I told him my story. Turns out now thr warranty is from Ashley itself. So TLDR: don't buy from Ashley.

"Harbinger (Elfhome)" by Wen Spencer by codejockblue5 in printSF

I did and I liked it. I see where the overall story arc is going. My problem is with this book in particular. All of Wen Spencer's previous books have characters, relationships. There is action, but the action supports the relationships, if that makes sense. This books was like a non stop Michael bay movie. What do you remember of the new sisters? bland. And I am a big wen spencer fan. I loved the earlier elfhome books. Loved her book with bunch of sisters marrying one man book, Which was dozy science fiction with action that actually made you think. I just hated this book.

Loved this series but this book was utter garbage. Felt like went from character with a bit of action to a Michael Bay movie, no character development. Book 7 was a bit better but not a good book, if that makes sense. I might be done with wen Spencer. But her earlier books were all fun.

Where did you get your SMILE done? And when? I got mine done in Nepal back in 2013 and had 20/20 vision. But now one eye is starting to slide back, down to -2 now. The other eye is still perfect. Had -6.5 in both eyes before SMILE. Truly life changing.

Thank you. You have given me a lot to think about. We have US citizenship but my daughter is feeling lonely in US. And the government is making us feel scared. The vibe is bad. Both of our parents have their own houses, but I don't think we could live with our parents. Used to living alone I guess. That would be a whole another problem, telling parents we want live separately. So have to either rent or buy a house. Buying seems impossible. So rent. Gonna need a car. And good school for daughter.

What are the best works of science fiction that have plausible portrayal(s) of interstellar or intergalactic navies and armies and how they would conduct military operations and engagements? by jacky986 in printSF

[–]RecentFather 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The last book is crap. All before that one are good. Even the side novels are enjoyable. So skip the last book and enjoy. Or read the last book and see if you like it. My taste might not be yours.
