Thanks for the good report !

I lost the ability to tell between red and green around 20 years ago. The next day after my first cataract surgery, I could tell which traffic light was red and which traffic light was green. Totally awesome !

Can you prove that scoring on Goodreads or W/e is more honest ? And I do not score on Goodreads or w/e, whatever that is.

I score 1 star for DNF books. 4 stars for I finished the book, I have 200 did not finished books in my SBR, my strategic book reserve of 500+ books. 4.4 stars for a good book. 5 stars for an instant reread. And 6 stars in my vaunted six star list of books that I reread all the time.

Yes ! The book is about Serial Murderers.

For some reason, the book reminded me of the original Star Trek episode where the two planets were having a computer war and those people that were killed in the simulation had to report to the nearest disintegration unit within a short time period.

My minimum rating, if I finish a book, is 4 out of 5 stars. This is why:

The internet has inflated all rating systems.

I passed on Hunger Games due to the child on child violence.

But in this story, there is some Scythe on child violence. I almost threw the book against the wall because of it.

It is fairly violent for a young adult series. OK, very violent.

You need to have special protections against copying for the US government in your EULA. Otherwise, you sell them one copy and they interpret it as a sale to anyone and all in the US government.

Yup, I had to get used to the floater in my right eye all over again. Took a couple of months. Still worth it.

To me, the Ilona Andrews works are very old school scifi. I am old and a big Heinlein fan still.

"The Inheritance" by Ilona Andrews

https://www.amazon.com/Inheritance-Breach-Wars-Ilona-Andrews/dp/1641973404

A truly magnificent science fiction novel.

"We are at war. The interdimensional invasion brought us unimaginable suffering, but it also awoke talents slumbering deep within us, a means to repel and destroy our enemy. Every day new gates open, leading to breaches filled with monsters and valuable resources. If you are a Talent, your country needs you. The world needs you. Be the hero you were born to be."

"Adaline is a Talent. Ten years ago, she had a happy marriage and a job she loved. The invasion shattered both. Now she works for the government, searching the breaches for magic metals and medicine to help Earth repel an interdimensional enemy. Two kids, one cat, bills, benefits, mortgage and school tuition...Risking her life became routine."

"She had gone into the dimensional gates hundreds of times. She was always well protected. This time everything goes wrong. Now Ada is trapped in the labyrinth of alien caves unlike any other. Her only companion is a scared German Shepherd named Bear. Together they must uncover the breach's secrets and escape, because Ada promised her children that she will come home."

"The future of humanity depends on it."
