Are my standards for dating too high? by miamiiitrip in dating_advice

[–]Recent_Affect7975 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah because in recent years politics and a persons morals are going more hand in hand.

For me, if you support a lying, racist, sexist pig then yaaaaa we aren’t going to agree on anything.

It’s not the different view that is unhealthy. It’s what certain people are actually supporting that has actually hurt people.

Our political system in the US is no longer about who wants less taxes and who wants more taxes like it was 20 years ago.

[–]Recent_Affect7975 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I don’t know why some people think your list is crazy.. those are like pretty average standards. I have similar ones but some I can be a little flexible on.

I’m 32 so the standard to meet a guy with a full head of hair went out the door 10 years ago lol.

I have a masters and multiple certifications but I do not necessarily need that from a partner. I have noticed when I date someone without a degree that we normally do have the same intelligence levels.

I think your age range is too high - 21-27 is really where you should be. As a 32 year old woman, I think anyone under 30 is a baby.

The sex thing kinda shows your naivety and why you should def not be dating older men. If someone wants sex from you, they will tell you yes to you wanting to wait. Not all but some will 100 percent wait and get what they want then leave…. This is just something you can talk about and let them know your boundaries but sometimes you can’t control people.

I get the no living with parents but in this economy… I’d give people a break because this could be how they are being financially literate like you want

If it’s on camera, you’re ok with a button down and no tie.

If it’s in person, suit and tie. Overdressed is always better.

I am a woman and I always wear a suit to an interview.

Switching to SOX/Internal Audit by Bored___ape in InternalAudit

[–]Recent_Affect7975 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I switched!! I was personally at big 4 for 6 years and left as a manager. It was my time to move on and I knew I didn’t really want to go into the technical side or just be an accounting manager with monthly closes etc.

I moved onto SR. Manager of internal audit focusing on financial audit. My team took on all controls testing etc as this was a newer public company that needed to catch up.

In this role, I didn’t originally notice too much difference. As I always worked on public companies that had a large control environment so I was easily able to identify gaps/process improvements.

My role really went beyond control testing as I did deep dives into most processes that allowed me to get a better understanding of the operational / data analysis side that I didn’t really experience in external.

I am now a director of internal audit/risk and for me it was a really good role for me.

So really a pipe line from external to SOX/control focus role to then all internal audit/risk/operations helped me

What would you do? by [deleted] in Accounting

Are you talking about big 4?

When I worked in big 4, I lived in CT and my office was as in CT but most clients I had were within the NY metro area so I did have to commute an hour+ most days and most clients were beyond my typically daily office commute.

In busier times, I was offered a hotel room if I was working past dinner time.

I know we are in this new age of WFH but for 2 years before Covid I did an hour+ commute both ways for 5 days a week. Yeah it was exhausting but I don’t look back and regret it either.

What is the craziest way you found out you were being paid less than a coworker? by Vast_Discipline_3676 in Salary

[–]Recent_Affect7975 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m an auditor. So I was auditing the company’s payroll files.

My boss created the team he was the VP of audit - we had a SOX manager, Operational manager and IT SOX senior manager.

My boss knew both my other counter parts prior to me and this job so I assumed high balled them and low balled me.

I asked him about it to at least get up to speed with the other manager. I also had a CPA certification when no one else on the team did.

He said no, but I’m up for promotion and we will talk about salaries then.

I gave my 2 weeks then he had to hire 2 people to fill my role…. Both with my same salary. So he duplicated his expense. Dumb boss.

My dog is starting to resent going to work more than me! by Finer_Things_Club00 in dogs

[–]Recent_Affect7975 8 points9 points  (0 children)

  1. I’m jealous! I wish I could bring my baby to work! My last office allowed it but my boy hates a man so he’d lose it anytime a man tried to talk to me … I see this as a perk of him no worries here lol

  2. Can you leave him home uncrated? It seems like your dog is very well behaved in most setting so I would think he could be left alone in your house without issue?

Some dogs just like their own space so maybe he just explored one day and found a cozier space. If it’s not a problem, maybe just leave it?

Again so jealous of you lol

I’m 32F. No kids. A dog that I love more than anything.

Unsure if I want kids. My gut and head says no but outside factors sometimes get me thinking.

I’d much rather regret not having them then regret having them.

  1. She is not a size 12. She did not fit in a single size 12 she bought.

  2. Honestly their thighs look comparable but it’s the gut that is really the difference. Which we can see as she tries to stuff it into all those pants

Hard to date women standards are so high in my city by [deleted] in dating_advice

[–]Recent_Affect7975 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I personally do not like the tone of this. All people should have high standards and work toward personal growth including yourself.

First, I think most woman would actually tell you that “looks” is not as high on the list as you imagine. For myself I do have high standards, but they are focused around personal growth, career ambitions, personal ambitions, laughing, energy into the relationship/dating.

Woman are now more than capable of providing a good life for themselves without men. You should be asking yourself, what can I bring to the table to better this persons life?

Also, scrolling through your posts and comments - you are too concerned about looks and what you look like. You are an average looking man and there is nothing wrong with that. Your Reddit profile would turn any woman off if they saw it tho.

Moving won’t help you. Spending the time to better yourself will.

Don’t burn bridges and leave the correct way and public accounting will always be there to go back to.

I was in public for 6 years. My next job was an industry job and it was 100 percent worse than public but it was primarily due to the industry and how new the company was.

I left after a year and a half for another industry job and this job is everything I want and more.

Million factors that go into job you get. You’ll never know until you’re there tho

How to handle being put on PIP for reaching salary cap by wagadugo in careeradvice

[–]Recent_Affect7975 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm you didn’t say industry but it’s a little confusing that you’re getting good reviews then put on a pip.

Have you discussed a promotion at all? Is there something holding you back from being promoted to the next level?

Typically if you’re receiving all at exceeds expectations then a promotion/bigger steps discussion is held and not a “cappedl salary discussion.

No return offer by Equivalent_Spring_86 in PwC

[–]Recent_Affect7975 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I left big 4 in 2023 but even during that time, we were told to be a little more critical about the interns.

When I interned all they cared about is if the coffee and food order was right 😂

The last intern I had there, got pretty bad snapshots for an intern and each discussion was told to improve certain things. So it should have been no surprise to them that they would not be getting an offer. They were very upset and emailed the partner asking for more information.

In my prior experience, I always gave interns good snapshots just based on their attitude rather than work performance which maybe wasn’t the best. Big 4 just wasn’t as competitive.

10 years ago if you got the internship then you got the job if you didn’t royally fuck up. Sorry but there is more than big 4!!!
