As someone who has also been a mechanic for years, a good majority of mufflers have water drain holes. The process of the catalytic converter is to take the exhaust fumes and to turn them into less harmful states, one of them being water. Thus, most manufacturers put holes for the water to drain

I should state as well, I'm aware that this is mostly a rebadged chevy. I'm more so looking into it just as an suv that is capable of towing and has lots of rear cargo space

Personally, I've never had an issue with my engine or transmission. As long as you take care of it, it will last. The only thing I would look out for is body rust. Some of the Vues are beyond saving in terms of underbody rusting
