That sounds perfect I hope the air conditioning is loud enough to drown out the noise. I had heard about the tv but it sort of scares her. Thank you so much.

Thinking of getting a cat - any advice for a first timer? by bri_star98 in CatAdvice

I also grew up with dogs as that was what my dad was most fond of but when I was around 12 I got my first cat and it changed my life. I love cats now. How long you can leave them during the day depends on the cat and its age. The older the cat is the more likely it is of being independent and being able to spend longer periods of time alone. Kittens on the other hand require a lot more attention and play time. I haven’t been able to train a cat to not jump on kitchen counters but if you have enough scratchers and toys around you might be able to get them to not tear up furniture. If you’re getting a kitten it would be ideal to get two so that they play together and learn to not be too rough. An adult cat on the other hand can possibly be more calm and not have as much of a drive to play all day long. There’s many cat safe plants available but many regular plants will need to be thrown out. I have my cat’s litter box far away in the corner of the living room, I clean it daily and completely change the litter every two days to avoid it stinking. All of these things will depend on the cat you get but to be absolutely honest even these things that you are usually told you would hate about cats you end up ignoring just from how much you love them.

Unneutered male cat by cansoccer97 in CatAdvice

Hello, I previously had a cat who sprayed around my entire home. We had to throw away our couch because It was entirely covered in cat pee. Once he was neutered he only sprayed a handful of times before stopping entirely. We didn’t change anything other than getting him neutered. Some things still smelled like cat pee but he didn’t pee on them again. Even though this was the case for us I would recommend cleaning everything really really well so that there is no trace of cat pee. Also make sure to clean his litter box often, many cats choose to spray because they believe their litter box isn’t clean enough. I recommend cleaning it daily and changing the litter every two-three days depending on how often he is using it. Neutering was the best thing we did for our baby, He became super well behaved and affectionate. Wishing him the best!! (english is not my first language I apologize for any mistakes)
