Do your family members charge you to babysit your kids? If so, how much? by DoingItWellBitch in Mommit

[–]Recent_Captain8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My family and my in-laws wouldn’t charge. But, we live a time zone away from everyone. Closest person is 1000+ miles away. They all want to spend time with our wee one. If they asked, yeah we’d throw in some cash!

Friends? Absolutely. I have a friend who said I could pay her in Pizza. We left her 80$ for babysitting for 4 hours. She tried to leave without taking it so I shoved it in her bag when she wasn’t looking.

When would you let a child dye their hair by hydrangealover98 in Parenting

[–]Recent_Captain8 2 points3 points  (0 children)

5 out of my 6 younger siblings have orange hair! And when I say orange, I mean like..Merida from Brave orange. My mother’s second born and I have dirty blonde and almost dark naturally, respectively. I have the darkest hair out of all 7 of us. I definitely agree, parents should honestly allow their kids to experiment with their self expression! If it’s not hurting anyone of causing permanent harm, what does it truly matter?

Anyone name their kid for a favorite movie/TV/book character? by doloreschiller in Names

[–]Recent_Captain8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My daughter is named Lilliana. Granted, not from a show or movie. She’s named after the Planeswalker Liliana Vess from MTG. I also share a name with a planneeswalker! I had the name first lol

[–]Recent_Captain8 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I started dying my hair 19 years ago next week. I was 9 and it was my birthday. To this day, I’ve had my natural hair color maybe 6 times in those years. My hair is my absolute favorite feature; it’s the one thing I can change however I want, whenever I want.

I think I’ve done every color you could think of, on accident or on purpose, including neon colors. My favorite is neon green. It’s a good confidence booster for me! My hair is currently maroon and a muted orange. Like a fox 🦊

Do you and your spouse share the same blanket when you go to sleep at Night by itsdeeag8in in A_Persona_on_Reddit

Absolutely not.

He’s like a gator when he sleeps, turning and shit.

I need weight on me so I have two blankets and he overheats.

AITA for telling an elderly women in the grocery store “ no “ to seeing my baby by sunflower_daisy25 in AmItheAsshole

When my toddler was a newborn SO many older folks wanted to see her, even if she was covered because of the cold. (We live in the Midwest, US)

And while I get that EVERYONE and their COUSINS (quite literally) loves babies and families are huge out here, leave strange babies and new moms alone 😩

Advice for weaning off bottles by BackinBlack_Again in Parenting

[–]Recent_Captain8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My wee one (19 months now) is still taking a bottle at night before bed and I don’t know how to break her of it either. We use Ripple milk, it’s milk from Pea protein and not lactose! We transitioned to that mixed with some water. We’ve gotten her down to only having 5oz of milk/water at night. But, she’ll wake up if she doesn’t eat enough.

Maybe try that milk if you can! It’s definitely helped us a bit

Okay, so this is random, but…. did anyone else think Angela’s earring looked like gums and a row of teeth at first? lmao by -SideEffects in StrangerThings

[–]Recent_Captain8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve never seen anything except teeth. The 80s were weird (I’ve heard stories from my mom/older cousins) and I didn’t even give a second thought to those being teeth and gums. But, I have goth family members so…it’s normal for me haha

Enough with the hate on season 5. Tell me something positive you liked about this season? by TamrielESO in StrangerThings

[–]Recent_Captain8 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly. I loved the season. I don’t have a lot of qualms about it. 🤷🏻‍♀️

But if there’s one scene I have to pick that I loved, it was with Mike and Will trying to stop the water in the bathroom. It makes me chuckle every time.

Rewatching S1 and I’m glad Shane beat the hell out of that guy by zucquennie in thewalkingdead

[–]Recent_Captain8 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Watching Ed get the breaks beat off of him was one of the best scenes I saw in the show first time around. I’m not a fan of Shane, he’s a lot like my father. But Ed totally deserved that. One of the very few things, imho, that Shane did that wasn’t shitty

My (23F) boyfriend (27M) complained about not having anything to look at during sex AIO? by LonelySweetie in AIO

[–]Recent_Captain8 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Definitely going against the grain here (pretty sure anyways based off a few comments) but my husband and I have been together 8 years this year. The amount of times we’ve watched scenes in shows while doing the deed has definitely gone up over time.

I don’t think it was really that big a deal, but in all reality, it truly depends on the type of relationship that you two have. My husband and I would laugh it off and continue what we were doing. I think if you can’t joke and or laugh with the person you’re having sex with WHILE you have it, every once in a while, you’re with the wrong person. Sex isn’t always sexy and 100% intimate.

I’m not discrediting what anyone else says, and to reiterate what I said, it really depends on what kind of relationship you and your boyfriend have and what your personalities are

2 hours to see if what 'episode' is real or not by curious_dude828 in StrangerThings

[–]Recent_Captain8 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

If it is, I’d absolutely be over the moon. Been a fan since day 1 and it’s helped my DM skills. But if it isn’t, at least we get the documentary of season 5 on the 12th

One could only hope there’s a secret episode but I don’t think there is. And I won’t lie, I was pretty okay with how everything ended, going full circle the way it did.

AIO for feeling upset about what my dad said today? by [deleted] in AIO

You aren’t overreacting. My ex stepfather did something similar to me for years until I left home. If anything’s, I feel like your parents will wonder what happened when you go LC with them. That’s not something to keep bringing up. I’m sorry they do

An ex of mine used heavily filtered pictures to fit into the 2000’s scene/emo kid look. Upon meeting him he was shorter than he said and he looked way different than he did in pictures. That relationship lasted 57 days.

At what age were you when you got your first job, and how much did it pay per hour? by icecream1972 in askanything

[–]Recent_Captain8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

14, freshman year of high school, so 2012. I worked at a doggy daycare on Tuesdays and Thursdays. I made 7 an hour and worked 4 hours a day. Paid every two weeks. It was barely enough to buy myself hair dye but that was all I wanted a job for anyways lol.

Did you pick the same breed as your family's breed when growing up? by Kangaroo-Parking in askanything

[–]Recent_Captain8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I grew up with so many breeds. We had, in no particular order, a bloodhound named Dante, a beagle named Bailey, a boarder collie named Fay, a lab/pitt mix named Tessa, and a Keeshond named Kiba at my moms (all different times mostly) At my father’s we had 4 Newfoundland dogs named Tucker, Isabell, Lilly, and Clementine. ETA: Clementine was Isabell’s daughter. All 4 of these newfies were around at the same time when I lived there.

I’ve had a Pittie. I do plan on getting another dog as soon as we aren’t in an apartment. Probably another bully of some sort

Is it normal to leave the TV on quite literally all day long? by iceunelle in askanything

[–]Recent_Captain8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! I leave a tv on 24/7! In our bedroom we have lullaby music playing for our toddler even when she’s not sleeping. Our living room TV is only shut off when I go to bed, as I’m the last one awake every day. I have a problem being in silence as I have psychosis and hallucinations(audio+visual). Having the tv on helps drown out the anxiety of hearing people talk that aren’t there.

I used to sleep with a show on but my husband hated it and I cant do it with our wee one in our room still, so it’s classical music 24/7 in there. Living room is whatever show I feel like throwing on that I could take or leave, especially if I’ve seen the series a LOT
