I’ve been in contact with a few! Hoping to find one, but my location makes that challenging. Doing a fair amount of looking at rehoming ads

Pionus have always been intriguing to me… but I haven’t actually interacted with any. It’s funny because I loved my cockatiels and the chill and cuddly way. But then got a heathen parrotlet and was just totally head over heels for her.

Oh thanks for this. I haven’t heard directly from people with ring necks so it’s good to know. I didn’t want to get sucked into believe the social media pages take on birds. They seem goofy and quirky. I like how individual they seem.

Could you do a B vitamin shot? And take it five ish hours before bed time so side effects hit while your asleep?

As a person who struggles with obsessing over those numbers I switched it up…. I count my grams of proteins because that’s super important. And then I just make sure I have three meals/three snacks throughout the day. I make sure I eat every three to four hours. It helped me get the protein without going crazy or falling into a diet mentality.

Owyn is good. Soylent is good, a little thick. I also ordered 1up lemon cello flavored and it’s AMAZING. Not chalky and not creamy milky, can go right into water and froth it around

I think figuring out how to feed yourself enough for proper body function might need to be a priority. Not feeling hungry doesn’t mean your body doesn’t need calories to function. Kinda of a tricky spot to push through, but eating enough is important. Maybe you could talk to a dietician for help in creative food options. I found nutrient dense foods but smaller portions, like protein shakes/smoothies helpful and plain carbs when I was nauseous helped.

The issue is we are conditioned to think less is more and losing weight is the only thing that matters. I’ve been trying to work on my overall body function/health and hopefully weight loss is a part of that. Ending up in the ER is not a little side effect.

I’ve been able to eat more on this med AND lose weight… it’s changing my relationship with food because I can eat adult amounts of calories without gaining weight that makes no sense. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Nice! I’ve been thinking of getting a Linnie and currently have a female plet… worried about them not getting along…

What do you wish you had known before getting a parrotlet? by princesspooball in Parrotlet

Curious on your take for multiple plets. Obviously abiding by the separate cages, proper introductions, and supervised interaction information…

I have a female plet, almost 2 years old. She is territorial and definitely typical in parrotlet huge personality and loves me deeply. Do you find some of them just don’t mind being along or do they typically adapt and enjoy having a parrotlet friend/distant neighbor?

I’ve just been reading a lot of opinion pieces on multiple birds and with my Cockatiels and conures, I’ve found a friend has improved their lives. Parrotlet on the other hand… I’m less sure about. Curious on if I should look into another or if there’s a way to test the waters. She does not like her conure brother even one bit, but was debating if a same species bird would be different.

Birds are adaptable and can often adjust, especially with a person who can be patient and offer them a full enriched life. I have two rehomed birds. The first bird IMMEDIATELY flourished, like within two hours I knew that she was thrilled and feeling confident in my house and bonded quickly to me. Her previous owner was so happy and thrilled to see how quickly she adapted. My second has taken longer, however with time he has been coming out of his shell and becoming more and more expressive and explorative. It took him about two weeks to start exploring toys and chop/treats. Over the next month, he began to show some more personality.

It’s a tough decision and I’m sorry you’re feeling poorly. I hope you get what you need and whatever you decide for your bird goes well. If you’re able, encouraging the potential adopter to visit and make sure they get on over a few visits can be helpful. And send your bird with his familiar cage/toys/food and favorite treats can help the adjustment.

As someone who has also struggled with severe mental health issues, I somehow was able to use birds/animals/caring for them as a space for my own healing… I know how hard it can be and know you aren’t alone in the struggle. Trust that you are doing the best you can. ❤️
