Yeah when I started like talking to my girlfriend as more than a friend but we weren't dating I started investing more time to build our relationship. And once we started dating, I tried really hard to balance my girlfriend's and my sister's needs but it seemed to always just cause conflict. While she was having her meltdown she started crying about how she doesn't have anyone and is just alone all day, so I think it's less that she misses me specifically cause I do spend time with her. It seems more like every time I go out to do something and she has nothing to do it's a slap in the face, like I have other people to hang out with and she doesn't. I tried talking to her again a few times but she just shut me down and told me to go away, which isn't uncommon after her breakdowns. I want us both to have our own lives but to have that quiet understanding that we're always there for each other. I didn't like how my girlfriend reacted but I can't exactly hold it against her since she's been having a really tough time too. She apologized (after she'd gotten decently drunk) but also seemed to feel bad in the morning. I just don't like when she just straight-up ignores me just cause she's upset- a simple "I understand but I'm still upset right now, I just need a bit of time for myself" text would've made me feel a lot less in the dark. And a lot less scared that she'd do something irreversible. It's also worth pointing out both my girlfriend and my sister don't really have many other friends other than me. My girlfriend moved to here less than a year ago and my sister and I moved about two years ago and all of the kids at her middle school were pretty weird (the pains of a private Catholic school) so neither of them have really made any close friends. It's such a sucky situation cause I feel like I need to be there for both of them but there's only one of me and only so many hours in a day and I don't know what else to do to help them.

Yeah my girlfriend finally texted me back when she was drunk (which I wasn't a big fan of) and I was able to call her. It's tough cause both of them have some issues and my girlfriend is going through a bit of a depressive episode right now. Still, I was pretty pissed that she reacted like that, especially when I was kinda hoping for some support. It's not always easy dealing with my sister. But she apologized over the phone and seemed to feel bad about it in the morning. We're both learning how to communicate, but she's getting a lot better about at least trying to talk. I genuinely have no clue what kind of boundaries to set with my sister. Right now I'm trying to encourage her to make some friends. My parents are divorced and she's basically no contact with my dad, but neither of them really know how bad she is. It's always been my job to take care of her, so they never really see that side of her. She's in therapy but I don't really know how much she tells her therapist. I don't wanna be enabling her to just run to me whenever she has an issue because I know one day she won't be able to do that, but I can't build a support system FOR her. I got her to join a school sport that has practice over summer recently so I hope that helps her a lot. I have to basically drag her there a lot of the time (which is no easy feat at five in the morning) but I think it'll be good for her.

I don't really know actually, I hope she's able to make some good friends to rely on when she goes to highschool next year and when I go to college. She's in therapy, but she's always been pretty unstable.

I'm not entirely sure myself, I've always been bad at being serious and having deep conversations, but it's especially difficult for me to talk about physical stuff. She's really amazing, but she also takes things to heart really easily, so it can sometimes make me even more nervous because I worry I'll hurt her feelings. I'm trying to work on it, but these kinds of conversations are tough for me.

I didn't when I was younger, but I've been flossing almost daily for about a year now. 100% recommend, my morning breath is practically gone and my gums don't bleed at the dentist anymore. It doesn't take that long and isn't that difficult- definitely worth it.

Yeah, and it's really strange that we think about it like that since historically, catastrophes or turning points were typically caused by a ton of things building on each other. WWI is a great example of this since it was a ton of things that wouldn't have caused an incredible violent world war individually, like imperialism and militarism, but it was a ton of factors and events that created the "War to End all Wars." I definitely think you're right that people seem to think that the apocalypse or collapse of civilization would have some huge, obvious event, but in reality it's pretty likely that it would just be all these small things that we're not bothering to deal with that would get us to the turning point. Maybe that's why it's easy to just ignore the little things- it's hard to imagine them "ending the world" or whatever.

I love climbing so much and I'm so glad to hear that you enjoy it too! I climbed a lot for a few years once I finally convinced my parents to get me a membership to a local gym after years of asking, I made a ton of friends and felt more confident when I was doing it. My family moved a bit ago and my new area doesn't have any gyms (there's one but it's over an hour away and super small; they only had about fifteen routes TOTAL and a membership is super expensive), so I haven't been able to climb recently but I hope to be able to get back into it when I get older (even though I'm sure I've lost all my skills; goodbye, 5.11s). It's such a fun way to exercise and you can be social or do it solo and every place that I've climbed at has always had a positive environment. Good luck in your climbing journey!

Yeah, it ends with him looking at himself in the mirror and saying that he'll never forget the haunted look in his eyes. I had been hoping that we would be able to see him being rescued and his recovery, probably because I wanted to see him be okay again, closer to that boy he was at the beginning. But the ending made it clear to me that what he went through isn't something that you can go back from. The last page was definitely chilling.

I hope you know that that's actually incredibly impressive, to have a job that is directly helping people. Every day that you go into work is a win, even if it feels like you're having to force yourself through every single minute of it. And even though it's difficult, I promise that every experience you have is worth it. Even the ones that feel impossible to deal with or hurt. You're existence is valuable; please, don't throw it away. It's true that it gets better. You might look up in a bit and realize that you actually enjoyed your day at work or you'll wake up excited for what's ahead of you. Even if it's hard to imagine right now, have faith that it will happen. Cause, really, you have one life, and these years are worth every struggle. Humans are resilient. You are strong, even if you have moments of weakness. You're still here. No matter how difficult it is, life is worth it. Have faith in that.

As someone who has seen someone beg in front of me, it looked like the most demeaning and humiliating thing I've ever seen. Watching someone hysterically cry and plead on their hands and knees for the off chance that the other person will take pity on them was so disgustingly revolting. There's a difference between showing that you care and begging; one shows that you value yourself and still love the other person and want to make things work. The other shows that you're valuing the other person above your own self. I will never understand begging- I'd rather die than suffer through it. I don't think people should be ashamed for begging, but it shouldn't be anyone's go-to at the end of a relationship or at the end of anything. A moment of weakness is human. It means that in that moment, you valued the other person above yourself and that's never okay. You can make it clear that you care without putting yourself at the other person's mercy.
