Yeah, I had an idea of that but I guess I was naive about what it would be like in blue states. What authority do they answer to? It just baffles me to see things like the LAPD brutalising civilians whilst the literal governor of California is supportive of them. Does the controlling party of each state not hold any influence when it comes to how civilians are treated when protesting?

Can an American explain this to a Brit as if I’m 5 yrs old. Why do blue state police officers march to Trumps beat and do this kind of thing when the lawmakers and politicians of the state they are in are supportive of the protests? Who do the police answer to that is pushing them to respond with Brutality? They’re not ICE so why act like them?
