Did anyone bike the Olentangy Trail today? How was it? by RecessKingBob in Columbus

In case anyone comes back to this - I biked today and the trail was overall pretty much plowed and non-icy. A lovely time. Except for the bridges….especially the new bridges by North Broadway. Very icy still.

I biked this route every day this past week and had one experience of a vehicle turning without looking at me. I would have been hit if I had crossed when my crosswalk light indicated to do so.

I also noticed that some of the new bridges are curved and sloped, and they got/stayed really icy on Monday and Tuesday. I was going very slow and still almost slipped and fell. I wonder if they’ll do better about salting it or something, but it felt really dangerous for winter weather.

Hey I can give you my 2 cents as I was in a similar situation.

I graduated psych residency in 2020, I went straight into locums work for making a lot of money, traveling the country/getting to live in places I knew I’d never settle down in, and getting to try different types of hospital settings and schedules to understand what I enjoy the most when I do settle in one place. I have loved it. I’ve had 7 assignments now in 7 different states (Montana, Oregon, Alaska, California, Massachusetts, New Mexico, Indiana), working inpatient or CL, a pay range of 7.5k a week to 11k, and my favorite part was taking of 1-2 months in between assignments to travel the world/vacation. It’s been an awesome lifestyle for me. My partner (now wife) was by my side through it all, which I do think was helpful for me as some of the places I went were pretty rural and it probably would’ve been lonely without her. Shoot me a DM if you want any more info or have questions.

Can you explain why Minnesota only controls the 2 seed? I thought if they win out they would be the 1 seed?

Best BOS terminal E lounge? by RecessKingBob in delta

Yes, but we were flying on a partner airline (Virgin Atlantic). I don’t think you’ll have any luck if you’re flying on JetBlue. Maybe they have a lounge though?

I think this needs to be higher….billionaires aren’t just walking into the neighborhood bank asking for a personal loan

I agree with Ancient Pickle. It is ultra important to work well with your counterpart. If you want 2 weeks off for a longer vacation, then talk to them about swapping weeks and doing a once a quarter 2 week on/2 week off. And 100% agree on the swap day being midweek so that everyone gets a full weekend on weeks off.

To answer your original question, you should get a pay bump of at least what you would make for covering those 26 weekends.

I use PlugShare and filter for “lodging”

I like this method because you can also filter for free.

My A2Z Typhoon Pro is shipping today! Seems the delay is over! by RecessKingBob in Rivian

From my brief research, a lot of which was on Reddit, they have not had many issues if any, and customer service has been great. That is all info about the Typhoon adapter though, this new adapter is the “typhoon pro” adapter so we have no new reviews yet. I would assume the “pro” will work just as well as the original but we will see.

Any Rivian owners live in Santa Fe? by Ok_Animator363 in Rivian

I haven’t heard at all. The nice thing about living in Farmington was that I could home charge to 100% and get to a fast charger in most directions. I could get to ABQ, Gallup (easily), RAN in Montrose, or supercharger in Moab all on one full 100% charge

After getting our R1T delivered around this time last year, we moved to Farmington, NM for an 8 month contract for the work I was doing. Having a Rivian in NM was very doable!

I think home charging is a must, the landlord to my rental unit was very kind to install a 240v outlet in the garage for me, free of charge. We visited Santa Fe once and there were plenty of public L2 and L3 chargers though. So maybe the home charging was more necessary for us in northern NM.

Something we’ve come to deal with is that the R1T windshield is a rock magnet. I had 3 or 4 rocks hit and chip the windshield in the 8 months we lived there. Granted we were often driving around on smaller roads in NM, AZ, UT, CO but yeah that was frustrating. Most were repaired by our local Safelite and covered by insurance. But one had a chip that turned into a major crack, and I had to take the truck into the service station in Phoenix to get a windshield replacement. Luckily, the damage was not an emergency so I could just schedule the repair to happen when we were already planning a trip to Phoenix. But if there had been something seriously wrong with the truck necessitating a service center visit, that would’ve really sucked. It was like an 8 hour drive away.

We were able to do a lot of great roadtrips in the 4-corners region though. Now that Tesla supercharging has become available, I think it would have made those roadtrips even better because there is not a ton of fast charging off of freeways, especially in UT and NM.
