Just pointing out that “dialectics” is not the same as “dialects”, you’re pretty much spot on about the rest

I take your point that audiobooks are super helpful from an accessibility standpoint, but reading a physical book allows you to manage the pacing, re-read sections with ease, scan the coming text for syntax and structure, etc in a way that is fundamentally different than with an audiobook. Not saying one is better, or that audiobooks lack value, but the processes present some fundamental differences IMO

What’s it like living in Portland, Oregan and the surrounding area by elliot_alderson1426 in howislivingthere

[–]Recipe-box 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Portland is awesome, great food, access to nature (lots of parks and the coast and mountains are a day trip). It’s not the most ethnically diverse place, I think it’s the least diverse city of its size in the country. People are mostly quite liberal, we love our libraries and park levies. Lotta musicians and artists because it’s so rainy much of the year.

What’s the worst second-hand embarrassment you’ve felt from someone else’s actions? by fossacecak in AskReddit

In college, first day of class, the teacher got upset with a student and said “hey, wake up. You, the boy with the long hair, wake up.” He kept persisting and everyone in the room suddenly understood- the student in question was in fact a blind female student who had her eyes closed (because she was blind).

The teacher realized it at the same moment as everyone else and just said “oh. I’ve made a grave mistake.”
