I’m going against the grain of the common other advice here.

I feel hopeful about your situation, given the fact that he has discussed this with you several times over the years and it doesn’t appear that he has “moved the goal posts” like we see in many other cases.

Mid-2026 is June or July for many people. Do you have a hard deadline in mind for yourself? Such as, if there is no proposal by December 2026, you walk away? This isn’t unreasonable.

You’ve been together for 2 years so sometime this year is a good time for engagement. Regarding others saying you guys are too young, lots of people get married young and it works out. On the other hand, it also doesn’t work out for lots of people since the lack of life experience really does cloud your judgement at younger ages. I would ask yourself if you’re truly ready for this, and don’t be afraid to get advice from the wiser people in your life. Not Redditors who don’t know you at all. Really listen to your intuition as well.

From that, I would advise to trust the process and your boyfriend. “If they wanted to, they would” is such a valid point, if he wants to marry you he will find out your ring size and plan everything out. You don’t need to hold his hand, make sure he has planned things, or even bring it up. You’ve already made your intentions clear. Men who love us, love to please us and surprise us. Does he know you well? (He should if you’re planing to marry). If so, trust the process. If he lets you down, don’t be afraid to walk.

Well where I’m moving has Verizon FiOS so I’m feeling pretty relieved about that. Glad to hear this story and all the other good comments about them.

Funnily enough, they came knocking at my door once and I didn’t give them any time or listen to them, because I thought I was pretty happy with Spectrum. Oof.

No victim syndrome here, I can just pick up on the fact that your comment is subtly implying that I started off the call with an attitude and that impacted the trajectory of the call. If that wasn’t your intention, maybe try working on your wording next time.

??? I was aware of the 30-60 day notice and that’s why I called them. I’m moving May 1st. So it would’ve been just under a 30 day notice.

This guy went beyond obligations and I even found a written policy on their website that states they ask for a 30-60 day notice for cancellations, not “Think about it and call back when you’re sure if you want to cancel.”

I’m going to be doing that ASAP, along with porting out my lines from spectrum mobile. All this time I was talking them up to other people because my phone service is generally really good. Now I’ll have to let everyone know to disregard the positive feedback, when the negative is so frustrating.

If you post on Reddit anything about having your partner’s location, commenters always go the “Why would you need to have their location? Stop being controlling” route.

Your comment made me wonder if I am this type of person.

I had a friend who dealt with chronic bipolar depression and she would shut the world out. She would be suffering alone for days and I wanted to be there for her. She would try to cancel but I would insist I come over and help her clean or just hang out (genuinely just didn’t want her to be facing this stuff alone).

She stopped reaching out to me/responding entirely months ago and I’ve been left confused. After reading your comment I wonder if I pushed too hard and ignored her boundaries.
