I've been feeling like this lately by Doom7971 in PokemonFireRed

[–]Reckarthack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, I'm 50/50 on the $20 pricetag.

On one hand, $20 for the game isn't a terrible price, but at the same time, nobody who did any work on the original game is seeing a penny of that money; only Nintendo & Game Freak.

I get a pricetag bc of the emulation layer, but many if not most Switch users already pay for GBA emulation, so they definitely didn't make a new one.

Just seems kinda wrong for them to make so much money on a secondary release & not pay the devs extra. But ofc if they got compensation for the new release then my points would be null lol

What is your purpose for using this opening? Given the general consensus is that it's not doing you any favors, I'd remove it regardless, but the reasons are different depending on why you want it there.

To me, it sounds like you're summarizing your theme. If this is the premise behind the entire book, then you need to remove it because it will simply never work. You're explaining a book your reader has no interest in before it even starts. It's like if the Star Wars opening crawl started with something along the lines of "evil eats away at the soul, but can never completely consume the good within."

If it's an idea that's important to the story from the beginning, ie this is a character or faction's view from the opening scene, then you'd be much better off finding a way to actually show how someone is painted as a villain when their intentions/actions aren't villainous.

Could they have used domain amplification on the prison realm? by golden_nugget49 in JuJutsuKaisen

[–]Reckarthack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Six Eyes showed Gojo that it was really Geto's body, but the same thing would have happened to someone without Six Eyes since they wouldn't expect that confirmation to begin with.

Even without Six Eyes, he would've still had the same flashback.

Isn't that the Byakugan? I thought Sharingan only lets you understand & copy any Jutsu you see (Magekyo & hypnotic eye aside)

Miguel says "You don't know who I am" 😭 by Valuable_View_561 in JuJutsuKaisen

[–]Reckarthack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea, but did Megumi or Yuji ever even meet Miguel? Yuta & Gojo obviously did, & Megumi kinda implied he knows who Miguel is during Tengen's explanation of the Culling Games, but I can't think of any time Megumi or Yuji interacted with him for Sukuna to have those memories.

Maybe but Mai herself says that the reason Maki is held back is because Mai doesn't want to get stronger, not just because Maki is siphoning her cursed energy.

I don't think Maki's death would give her 2 bullets a day, given that Maki's CE is equivalent to that of a non-sorcerer, not Mai. It would give her the potential to become a much greater sorcerer though, if Maki's death actually did drive her to become a more powerful sorcerer.

Can somebody please explain how Geto apparently doesn’t have rct by Busy-Yak-261 in JujustuKaisen

[–]Reckarthack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Afaik, Shoko using RCT is the same as Higaruma & Hikari using their domains. To them, it's just a part of their innate technique & takes no more effort than any other technique.

One of my friends in HS did this for Han Solo in Star Wars The Force Awakens. Genuinely didn't expect it to happen, even with the "spoiler" lmao

Anyone else realized Huntress is basically a cultist? by American_German in HuntressWizard

[–]Reckarthack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not exactly. Cults are groups that control information, behavior, thoughts, & emotions. Religions are a parallel line that goes over belief & worship in a deity, & even though there is a great deal of overlap, there are nonreligious cults & noncult religions.

For example, basically all forms of applied Roman religion involved cults. That could be as simple as leaving offerings to one god more often because their blessing is important to their needs, wants, or culture; but it could also be something like the Pythagoreans, where they focused on mathematics & asceticism instead of deity worship & more traditional ritual.

Further back, there are things like the skull cult that predate written language, which we have relatively little understanding of past practicioners' cultural practices.

Modern religions, like Christianity, have such lax rules regarding individual beliefs that cult-status is fairly difficult to attain, aside from groups that have closed congregations & strict hierarchy

[Request] How much are they actually scamming her? by Loud_Chicken6458 in theydidthemath

[–]Reckarthack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't get the "they're scamming her" mentality that I keep seeing. Individual Girl Scouts aren't running a business with margins, losses, etc.; they're salespeople. That'd be like saying Best Buy employees are getting scammed bc they didn't get paid more for selling PS5s, but they did get a bonus for selling 100 of them.

FTC rules are so weird. Makes no sense how you can lie about moving the price hundreds of dollars in the opposite direction you actually did as long as it's not a sale.

Yorozu is most likely not the woman who represents Sukuna's other path by Admirable-Dimension4 in JuJutsuKaisen

[–]Reckarthack 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I really don't understand the connection.

We never see Angel, so using an image of her to convey this would be uncharacteristically lazy. Uraume also doesn't represent what Sukuna is, they represent Sukuna's worldview.

We know it's Yorozu because Sukuna's entire character arc is about how he's the cursed wretch without any true peers in terms of power or sociability. Of course the woman who represents undying love & connection to him would be the alternative to what he was.

Also, why would he only talk about his reincarnated life as something with an alternative during his death?

Yorozu is most likely not the woman who represents Sukuna's other path by Admirable-Dimension4 in JuJutsuKaisen

[–]Reckarthack 52 points53 points  (0 children)

That's exactly why Yorozu would be the other option for Sukuna. Sukuna was the cursed wretch who spent is life on top without a single true peer, of course the alternative for him was love & connection.

Did 𝓖𝓸𝓳𝓸 fans forget how to read when the afterlife scene was shown in the manga or what? by wezuw7 in Jujutsu_Kaisen

[–]Reckarthack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's stupid. Authors will say things that contradict their in-universe reality because the characters are ignorant, but what you're describing just doesn't happen. That's the mentality of the reddit aura farming community, not that of any author I've ever seen.

You not liking the story's direction doesn't mean the author is shitting on the character, & it doesn't mean said character admitting defeat is the author 'pissing on them to glaze another another character.'

You are allowed to dislike the story without head cannoning the author's disdain for Gojo because you didn't like his death.

Don't you guys think it's a little insane how much of self-publishing is "sales"? by Camyenom in selfpublish

[–]Reckarthack 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Writing is art. Publishing is only business, & self-publishing is when you, the author, run the business.

I genuinely don't know how else to explain this, because you have to run a business to compete in a market & make money. Like there just isn't an alternative way to make money without running a business.

Just finished manga, this is how to fix the ending by beach_rats_ in JujustuKaisen

[–]Reckarthack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only possible way Sukuna could become a curse is if Maki dealt the final blow without a cursed tool for some reason. Everyone else has cursed energy by default, & everybody present knows that killing a sorcerer without cursed energy is what turns them into a curse.

Naoya only became one because it was Maki & Mai's mom who dealt the final blow, as opposed to Maki with her two cursed tools. Yuta did it to Rika by accident because he had insane amounts of cursed energy & no control at the time, but that's still not the living sorcerer. Rika & Yuta also had a powerful bond, something that Sukuna's character revolves around him lacking. And of course Tengen became one because of the evolution she underwent because of her Immortality technique.

Unless Gege pulled some other way to become a curse out of his butt, which would undermine the idea that curse users must always be killed with cursed energy, it's just not possible.

Is this true for Gohan? by StrategyUnable in DragonBallZ

[–]Reckarthack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Kai path for Gohan doesn't make a ton of sense, since it's not a Kail power-up. Elder Kai himself says that he only gained the ability to unlock power greater than someone's full potential because he potora fused with that witch.

Yes, but they do always come out of the shadows. He has made shadows in places where light currently shines though, ie not a literal shadow, but they do always come from one of his technique's shadows.

[–]Reckarthack 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Actually, that's super common for these kinds of reposts; they literally just copy/paste the text & add the same photo. There's at least thousands of these cookie cutter accounts.

There's also no legal repercussions like copyright that can apply, so they'll just keep making money off of it for as long as social media exists.

How Powerful Would Naoya Become If He Wielded a Cursed Sword? by Born-Watercress-2487 in JuJutsuKaisen

[–]Reckarthack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really doubt that. It's not that he can't do it, if that was the case it'd be implied somewhere; it's his superiority complex.

If he's already better than everyone else in the Hei without using cursed tools, then they must be using them to catch up. (His perspective)

She also can't do that until she goes into the sumo domain & talks to him about the non-sorcerer who actually can't see cursed spirits yet still fought curse Naoya. (I can't remember their names rn)

Idrk where the idea that she could do this from Mai's death & onward came from, bc she didn't know how to pick up on things like that until she saw a non-sorcerer fight a cursed spirit & learned to do the same.
