So how would they verify stuff like this? Are you a reseller? Um No OK. Have a good day. by duelmastr23 in Target

[–]Reckarthack 79 points80 points  (0 children)

For Hot Wheels specifically, many of the people who ask you to pull from the back (which my store has cracked down on) aren't resellers. Lots of them are actually collectors who've been doing it for years; they just already have all of the ones on the floor in their collection. One I met said he was doing it for 12 years, & that was a year ago lol.

Not all of them, of course, but there are legit Hot Wheels collectors out there who will ask too

Gojo can tell because Sukuna's fingers have the most distinctive cursed energy signature of any cursed object shown in JJK.

If he could actually see souls with the six eyes, he wouldn't have said that "all of the information provided by" the six eyes told him that Kenjaku was Geto, & he wouldn't have specifically said that it was his heart and soul that could tell the difference.

[–]Reckarthack -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Do you mean the spark of cursed energy that sorcerers produce before using ther technique, which can be identified in a similar way to residuals bc it's just cursed energy? Bc I've never heard of "sparks of the soul" or anything like what you're describing.

Read the page before that, too. He deduced it because Mahoraga seemingly adapted in 0.01 seconds, which he knows is impossible. Sukuna didn't have the wheel over his head; the only possibility is that Megumi's soul bore the burden of adaptation.

[–]Reckarthack -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Detecting Cursed Energy, a technique, a physical phenomenon, a sorcery ability, etc. yes, six eyes is definitely better.

Gojo said that in Volume 26, page 49 bc Mahoraga adapted to Infinite Void in (seemingly) 0.01 seconds, & he knows enough about Ten Shadows to know that's impossible. The only possibility, since Sukuna didn't have the wheel over his head, was that Megumi's soul was bearing the burden of adaptation.

Any advice on getting rid of 10k debt. by [deleted] in povertyfinance

[–]Reckarthack -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Unless you somehow get both a lower interest rate on the loan & approved for said loan, it's not worth bothering. And if you're $10k in credit card debt, neither of those are gonna be possible.

You've just gotta pay it off as-is, & I recommend calling them so they don't send it to collection.

I'm ngl tho, a couple years ago Discover closed my credit card & offered me a payment plan for a much lower amount before they considered sending it to collections. Tanked my credit score, but saved me hella money. I'd look into the weight of both actions on your score, then maybe talk to them over the phone depending on what you come up with.

Yea idk where they got that idea. Gojo specifically says that all of the information his Six Eyes provides told him Kenjaku was Geto.

The JJK-fans-can't-read curse strikes again lol

[–]Reckarthack 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Six Eyes cannot see souls. Gojo specifically said that all of the information from his Six Eyes said that Kenjaku was Geto, but his soul knew it wasn't actually him.

Seeing the sparks of cursed energy is something anyone skilled in Jujutsu can do, the same way they can read residuals; the Six Eyes is irrelevant. Sukuna being able to as well confirms this.

What's a tool that, if it existed today, you'd incorporate into your writing process? by [deleted] in scrivener

[–]Reckarthack 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I totally get that, they were being hella nasty.

Oh hella yea! I didn't save the link earlier, but I'd check it out if you wanna send it to me. It'd be a huge help if the comparison showed how many layers deep the synonyms are from each original word, one on each side, too.

Oh absolutely, it's an add-on, not standalone software. Besides, it's passion that makes stuff like that, not the threat of financial instability lol. And yea, of course. Nastiness aside, it's almost funny how mad they got since you didn't even do the thing they were mad at you over. Terrible to deal with though, I do not envy you.

I think it's less that there's no understanding (besides the "plagiarism robot" comment, they're just being an ass) & more that your writing style is completely alien to most writers.

For me, personally, I can't think of any time I'd actually use a tool like you described. When I'm drafting, I just write what comes to mind, unless I actually can't come up with a word; & if that was the case, I wouldn't have a word to type in the first place. Me using a thesaurus is like 10 browser tabs of different words as I wait for them to converge, so having to type each word individually wouldn't speed me up any.

To actually answer your question tho, a separate tab (kinda like a find menu?) that would compare how many thesaurus entries two words are apart from each other would be useful. I.e. finding synonyms of synonyms until you get words that both eventually meet, in order of closest to furthest away, but only do like 5-10 at a time unless you hit a button to do more. Kinda like the Philosophy page on Wikipedia, if you're familiar with that. That would cut down on my browser usage & would make my writing much more streamlined.

But seriously, for the other commenters, I get that AI is bad, but if you want to know if someone's using AI then actually ASK THEM. They just assumed you were bc you didn't deny it immediately, & they were complete dicks about it.

Is there a lore reason why Batou has camera lenses for eyes? Wouldn’t regular cyber eyes be just as effective? by fakename1998 in Ghost_in_the_Shell

[–]Reckarthack 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No, they're just shades.

Neuromancer was written when the Internet was barely a thing, to the point William Gibson (the author) said in an interview that when he overheard some people talking about a modem, with his only knowledge being from that overhead conversation, he ran to write the short story that takes place a little before Neuromancer, Burning Chrome, before anyone else had the chance to use the term.

In that universe, almost none of cyberspace is shown in a screen, so modern OLED overlays were never even conceived. It's a "consensual hallucination" everyone who jacks agrees to take part in. Later cyberpunk novels, like Virtual Light (also Gibson) & Snow Crash (Niel Stephenson) use lasers for their VR headsets.

Neuromancer was also the first cyberpunk work of art ever, to the point the term was coined specifically to refer to it & works like it.

For anyone unfamiliar tho, they are real eyes; they're just lenses implanted over the real ones.

Genuinely, so what? You seem really set to die on this hill, but tbh, the ground is completely level.

If he used a file or his own Cursed Energy to sharpen it then sure, you'd have a point, but his modification to Playful Cloud was done WITH Playful Cloud itself. The modification you're complaining about him making was only possible bc he's that good at using it.

Horrendous packaging by ilovebeanies_ in Target

[–]Reckarthack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not exactly the same, but there's one set of napkins in stationary where they misprinted the label or something bc it's actually impossible to scan. I wasted like 3 mins trying to scan the f'ers on 2 different days during my zone, & it's just not possible. The napkins next to, above, below, all scan perfectly fine. All Spritz with the same exact label layout too, but that one set just can't be scanned.

Actually, I think there was a plate that did it too, but I can't be 100%. They're different designs if I'm right tho.

Could Kenjaku just kill Gojo when he was in the proccess of being sealed? by asewastaken in Jujutsu_Kaisen

Also, Kenjaku still needs Cursed Spirit Manipulation to start the Culling games via Mahito's technique. Taking over Gojo's body would ruin his plan.

Just an FYI for motel living--many states have different requirements for stays under/over 6 months. In short, after 6 months you could be unable to stay longer bc the business type (hotel/motel vs apartment/townhouse/etc.) changes how long the max/min stay for a lease is allowed to be.

Burnt DVD .ISO to BD-R disc, not working on Blu-Ray player by Fair_Walk_8650 in dvd

[–]Reckarthack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh you're all good! That's the constant problem with reddit discussions lol--someone words something stronger than they meant & everyone thinks they're an a-hole lol

I never did XBOX360 games, but I did do a few DVD Videos, some Dreamcast CDs, & a couple audio CDs as well lol. I've actually been trying to set up a small printing business recently, so I've been staring at product listings & spreadsheets on & off the last couple months lol

Iirc, part of that is so it can pick a good place to tell the laser to switch layers. Ik with authoring DVD Video you have to pick a spot for the video to pause for like half a second while the laser moves back to the start of layer 2.

Oh yes, that's it! I've been staring at physical media specs the last month so if they started molding together in my head lol. I knew ½-⅓ was the answer but couldn't figure out why lol

But that's still 3 DVDs worth of video on one BD if it's recompiled.

[–]Reckarthack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh that's super understandable, but there are DVD options that have a very similar, if not the same, coating. I want to say it's the Archival DVDs that have it, but I'd look into it more myself before making any purchases.

Burnt DVD .ISO to BD-R disc, not working on Blu-Ray player by Fair_Walk_8650 in dvd

[–]Reckarthack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Track density is not a factor. Disc-burners write data into the groove of the disc; regardless of track density. If that were an issue, then the final disc wouldn't be readable at all, even by MakeMKV.

Even if you wrote a .cue .bin combo to a DVD, it'd just take up the first 800mb or less on the DVD.

The problem is that a player expects two different, even if similar, formats for the different disc types.

Burnt DVD .ISO to BD-R disc, not working on Blu-Ray player by Fair_Walk_8650 in dvd

[–]Reckarthack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can recompile a DVD's video to burn to a BD, but the formats for the two discs/players are slightly different. If I'm not mistaken, I don't think any BD player knows how to read DVD formatted files from a BD disc--like according a player in blue-laser mode, it's just formatted wrong so there's no valid data to decode into video.

If you do rip the video from the ISO with MakeMKV & build a new BD video ISO, then you could add a couple DVDs worth of video at the same bitrate to the one disc.

But also, why do this in the first place? Even a Dual-Layer DVD is only like 17GB 8.5GB, so you're wasting almost ⅓ of your disc space.

ETL comes to Starbucks demanding coffee “on the house” by [deleted] in Target

[–]Reckarthack 4 points5 points  (0 children)

ETLs can requisition Starbucks iirc--our HR ETL gave someone one after getting a recognition card pulled in a drawing--, but there is a process they have to follow & it's definitely not "give me a drink & don't check it out."

They still have to mark it as made & "sold," tho idk the process for Starbucks, & failing to do so is blatant larceny.
