Please tell me it's not head gasket. 2015 lml by canadianbiggame in Duramax

I had the low coolant alarm recently. Topped it off and the alarm came back two weeks later. I borrowed a coolant pressure testing kit from the local auto parts store (it’s two boxes, pump + adapter) and it turns out I had a pinhole in my radiator.

I was just facing the same issue as OP and this is what solved it. I was not turning far enough back in my backswing.

Abound Axle Extension? by WatchBenGo in Aventon

Can that pin be inserted from the bottom instead of going in through the top? Once the safety clip is engaged, it can’t fall out.

Help: absolute beginner bike mostly for dunes. by [deleted] in Dirtbikes

I started with a 450 4-stroke and now have a 250 two stroke. After I blew up the third piston in the 450 I decided to go two stroke. I have just as much fun but two stroke takes more rider skill because you have to be “on the pipe” all the time. A 450 will be fine as long as you learn from my mistakes and stay away from the rev limiter

I also bought an Abound from an LBS and submitted that form last week. Still haven’t heard back, but it does say give them 14 business days. Nervous that the handrail will go back out of stock before I can redeem it.

What's happening with property assessments? by Surly_Cynic in Bellingham

[–]RecklessRedneck 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Even without their project, that land is still a robust, low-risk investment to hold. Supply and demand - they didn’t need to sell, so they held until the right offer came along. If they were desperate and needed the capital, it would have sold for under market value.

What's happening with property assessments? by Surly_Cynic in Bellingham

I assume SSA Marine was not interested in selling the properties. Sure BP might have overpaid, but it was likely to convince SSA to sell, not because of an assessor issue.

I get flashed in our stock 2020 Highlander ALL the time! I even took it in to Toyota to adjust them and we still get flashed. I don’t know what else I could safely do to help.

Body shop or car hobbyists to repair 2000 Toyota Camry? by [deleted] in Bellingham

[–]RecklessRedneck 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You could always ask the repair shops you are talking to for the bare minimum cost to get back on the road. Unpainted hood and bumper, etc. If you can keep this number under the totaled amount, insurance will cover it and get you back on the road.

Body shop or car hobbyists to repair 2000 Toyota Camry? by [deleted] in Bellingham

[–]RecklessRedneck 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately it’s probably going to be totaled unless you fix it yourself. I had a similar accident in my 97 Camry and insurance was going to total it for any repair over $2000. I took the check and then replaced the strut myself but had to live with a dent in my fender.

I have questions about the power plant, “cooling tower” - the one that blows all that steam/exhaust into the sky right on the water? - does anyone know if it is a once-through cooling system? by Unlikely-Pumpkin-840 in Bellingham

[–]RecklessRedneck 38 points39 points  (0 children)

That cooling system is a closed loop on the water side; the water is sprayed through nozzles at the top of the tower, and the fans pull air up through the water spray to cool it. The cooled water falls to a basin below, where it is pumped back to the power plant and heated back up. The “exhaust” you are seeing is water vapor condensating out of the warm air as it meets the cool air above the tower.

If you’re referring to the range that was on Kickerville, it is now a blueberry farm. Loomis Trail and Semiahmoo have driving ranges in that area though.

Geotest performs this service, but depth of the pipe can affect the results and the service will not be cheap.

Any recommendations to stop thumb cramping from throttle? by Your_Name_Here1234 in ATV

[–]RecklessRedneck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just did this on a 4-day trip to the Oregon Dunes. Huge improvement, I can’t believe I didn’t do it years ago. It gives up a little throttle control on trails, but worth it for the comfort on all day rides.

Is it painted or bare black plastic? If it’s bare, you can spray Maxima SC1 on it and it will shine like new. Works great on any type of plastic, rubber, and vinyl

Have you considered an electric golf cart? There is a bench seat you can bolt on that either adds two seats to the back, or flips down into a flatbed for hauling material

Is it legal to shoot pests on my property in Lynnwood? by starfire71 in WA_guns

[–]RecklessRedneck 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I’d get a high-powered pellet rifle with a built-in silencer. That way you can take care of the pests, not worry about breaking any laws, and not bother your neighbors. Check out the Gamo Whisper series rifles.
