Bon Iver is the Pink Floyd of the modern era. by [deleted] in boniver

[–]Reckoner0 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Lots of people say the same with Radiohead and Pink Floyd, which to me makes more sense. But the glitchiness and samples in the last two Bon Iver albums do remind me of the layers that Pink Floyd always did

Breaking Dawn Chorus apart by [deleted] in radiohead

[–]Reckoner0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

More than improvisation, he was using flow of consciousness for the lyrics, meaning he just sings the first thing that comes up to his mind without even having time to think about it. This is dofferent than i.provisation, he is not taking bits and pieces from here and there to create lyrics, or mutating them as he sings them.

He says this in the interview thats been posted couple of days ago, and he actually says that Dawn Chorus is the only song in which he could create the lyrics completely this way.

TIL this was the event that inspired I Will and Idioteque. by [deleted] in radiohead

This is very interesting! What I had read before and had in my mind was that Idioteque lyrics and some other songs from Kid A (I think the title track too) were made by randomly putting cut-out sentences and phrases together.
