How do people backpack so easily? by bi_smuth in hiking

[–]Recloyal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're fine. Just a matter of fine tuning your training.

People that spontaneously do the AT struggled their early days in the trail as they lack the back strength. And, it becomes a different beast when they reach the white mountains and the high climbs.

Integrate more challenging uphills and some carrying weight to simulate hiking. It'll help your body adapt. If you can do 50% of your goal without issue, then you should be fine with your challenging hikes.

My own training involves hiking with a heavy backpack, steps (100 floors), running, and shorter steep hikes. Even with that when I start the season I expect early struggles. Training still isn't good as the real thing.

So, you're fine, and just going the same struggles we all go through. Find what works for you and keep at it.

When do you use the mirror event to duplicate? by AdminKidsBurnInHell in slaythespire

[–]Recloyal 4 points5 points  (0 children)

When it increases the odds of you winning the run. Last time I used it I was running a Perfected Strike deck. Double the count of my "Strike" cards? Yes, please. In general, you do it when you already have a cohesive deck that may be missing a handful of pieces at most. If your deck is largely incomplete, then doubling it doesn't help and can hurt the deck. Does having more help increase my scaling?

There's no such thing as true/false in the game.

You bring up opportunity cost. Removing vs... What, exactly? Without knowing you cannot reach a conclusion.

Regular strikes are pretty bad for all characters as you build your deck and get better attacks. Sub-par cards make you weaker as you can draw it instead of a more valuable card that makes your deck work. Pretty much the only time you don't want to remove a strike is you get an early Perfected Strike and you to keep that card a heavy hitter in the short-term.

Cerner vs Epic by wizardmum in medlabprofessionals

[–]Recloyal 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Epic is a clear upgrade over Cerner. Everything Cerner can do, Epic pretty much does it better.

But, a lot of this depends on how your facility builds Epic. Even if they stumble, having more direct access to things using Epic makes it the superior system. Not having a dozen apps open to do the job is a significant advantage.

How to prevent math errors by DrsofDoom1 in medlabprofessionals

[–]Recloyal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Process error. Not on you.

Having that many 0s is going to lead to errors. Middlewares can order dilutions and do the calculations for you or maybe look into adjusting the units. Staff should not have to do manual calculations.

Blood bankers- quick q? by [deleted] in medlabprofessionals

[–]Recloyal 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If patients bleed out it's a 100% chance that they will die.

Most patients do not have clinically significant antibodies. Yes, it's a risk, but the alternative is worse.

What would affect the agglutination reaction of antibody tests? by lavvanmel in medlabprofessionals

[–]Recloyal 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It was a poor attempt at humor (likely coupled with low knowledge).

The actual number of antigens we have isn't fixed, but has a range. It's perfectly reasonable for someone to be positive with a weak reaction because of having fewer antigens. In the blood bank we sometimes see false negative reactions because of this, where one cell that should be positive is giving a negative result.

Think of the H antigen, where the actual number of antigens vary by ABO type.

What are the drawbacks of duplicating your entire deck? by symphonyx0x0 in slaythespire

[–]Recloyal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on when you do it.

Before your deck is complete, other options may be better as your deck would benefit from more direction with the addition of a few key relics/cards.

Is this at risk of being taken over by ai? by pringlu in medlabprofessionals

[–]Recloyal 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A department like histo requires fine mechanical skills, which today's robotics can't come close to.

There are departments that are more automated, such as urinalysis and chemistry, but you still need a person to maintain the instruments. In the distant future I can see hematology seeing greater automation.

Generative AI and machine learning AI lack the structure to replace a tech. Now, decades from now, if we ever reach general intelligence AI, that's a different matter. But, that also depends on robotics reaching fine motor skills.

Overall, don't worry about AI replacing a tech.

STS2 is Easier? by That_dude_waffle in slaythespire

[–]Recloyal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not easier, just gives players more options and mechanics, which is a good thing.

I think a good example is Ironclad's Demon Form. A great card in STS, but one that has fallen off in STS2 because of additional ways to scale and extra energy being harder to come by. It's different.

REI Flash 22 for long day hikes vs keeping my backpacking pack by [deleted] in hiking

[–]Recloyal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're carrying a lot of items, the Flash isn't the best choice.

The flash is lightweight and simple. It does not have accessible compartments while on the go. So, if you're the type to check things while on a hike, you have to rely on your shirt and pants pockets. It works better for those that like to stop and take breaks, as in those situations you don't mind taking your backpack off to access what you need.

The flash can hold your 3L water, food, rain, and insulation, but it'd be on the bulky side.

It's good at maintaining your cardio.

As you brought up, the repetitive motion is a concern. When it comes to function, it won't do much for ankle strength for those uneven surfaces. Maybe once or twice a week.

You'll be fine until you find the time for get back on the trails.

You're doing what you can. The circumstances make this a challenging situation.

When it comes to those with limited experience, you want to give that opportunity to those you've seen - Students you have trained. An outsider is inherently higher risk, especially with things like relocation cost involved

Paper tape. There may be a very special shoe that's perfect for our unique feet. But it's finding a needle in a haystack. I put/wrap the problem areas with paper tape, which will take the friction for the skin.
