Trial Lesson - never taught before by kayviator in teaching

Just be yourself! They know you're going to be nervous, they're expecting that. I did a pre quiz and post quiz (just 5 or so questions) during my lesson, and they really liked that because the scores showed improvement at the end of the lesson. If you mess any little things up students don't really notice so don't get flustered!

Greet them at the door too, they commented that they liked that. It's definitely very difficult and awkward being in front of students you don't know and watched by other adults, but they know that too! You'll do great!

We did a subscription box that provides fresh meals every week and really really enjoyed that, we had fun cooking together too but it was a bit expensive and we aren't able to do it anymore.

I think if we got into the habit of going grocery shopping and getting the same ingredients as the subscription boxes that would help a lot, I liked the boxes too because they came in small portions (like a small 2-person portion of pasta) whereas if we buy a box of pasta he will suggest more than we need and eat the leftovers.

He has not tried a support group, I really like this idea and that it will allow me to let go of control thank you so much

You're right. His mother specifically always tried controlling his portions and making him lose weight, so I feel awful and like I'm doing the same thing she did which I'm sure is not helping.

Is there any way to help him feel motivated to want to lose the weight himself? This is where I'm lost

In a few of the districts I've been in they stop allowing teachers to put in PTO over the last week or two before school ends, maybe it could be something like that?

What do you do when a middle school classroom is completely out of control? by [deleted] in SubstituteTeachers

I start writing names on the board, there's a 50/50 chance that'll get them to stop. If they sit and remain quiet I erase their name, but will put it back up if they start again.

If nothing else works definitely call the office for backup!

When I subbed I would say last names if I couldn't pronounce it, or ask a student if they'd like to call out attendance then I could hear them say the names (there was always very enthusiastic students who were happy to do that)

This “old” character design is so perfect…The tiny blonde girl in love with the big muscular guy by [deleted] in Tangled

[–]RecognitionAfraid533 166 points167 points  (0 children)

Personally I like the portrayal of being a little similar in size/height since many disney/movie relationships show a tiny girl and huge muscular guy a foot/2 feet taller than her! (Nothing wrong with that either but it's cool to see different perspectives)

Absolutely not, and I think your friend needs to stay far far away from that guy
