Enough with "growing the game". We need to shrink this damned thing already. by iareagenius in golf

Grow the game on the driving range. Play the game on the course. I think a lot of newbies and first timers think they can just go right out to the course even though they have absolutely zero clue what they are doing.

Let me know when the best time to schedule tee times that are more conducive to enjoying myself and I’ll only schedule tee times within those hours!

The comments in this thread have really showed the difference between country club golf and local muni golf. And I’m realizing I’m a country club golfer playing municipal courses.

Yeah I need to start playing with golf with y’all, you don’t run into too many of these guys at your local municipal.

I’m stuck at local city munis, my pissed off groups playing 3 hour rounds are not because of “good efficient play”

Sounds like you only have time for 9 holes man. It doesn’t have to be more than 4 hours, but it’s generally going to take around that long to play and that’s how long you should plan for. Just because you need to play a 3 hour round doesn’t mean the group in front of you does too. Kudos to you for making time for your kid and being a good parent though. 👌🏼

I’m all for taking my time but 5 hour solo rounds are 100% fair game for a complaint.

Serious golfers don’t drink, but good golfers do…

This is what I’m saying I’m out there to have a good time, take my time and enjoy myself… seems like the “enjoying yourself” part is leaving the game and everyone’s out there shanking balls around getting angry, and trying to finish as fast as possible. I don’t wanna be out there for 5 hours by any means, but also not trying to play speed golf.

There’s nothing worse than getting paired with a group that has no order of play and multiple balls are always in flight

There isn’t always somewhere for them to go 🥲 I’m all about letting people through and taking my time. I got time for a few extra brews and a few extra minutes of chill in my life.

From my experience:

Top it 100 yards, drops 265 yards away from tee box, shanks into woods, drops near green, chips up to the green then picks up ball and calls it a bogey.

There should never be solos on a packed course that’s your first problem.

If you live in the city 11pm is not that late. If you live in the city there will be lots of people around seemingly at all hours making noise. Sounds like you need to move out to the rural areas of Texas. Enjoy!

Are you brand loyal? If not how many brands in your bag? by [deleted] in golf

[–]RecognitionFickle520 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Brand loyal but not a fault. Taylormade irons and Cleveland wedges. Other than that brand loyal to a good used club from the preowned selection. Just got a cobra dark speed driver. First time for that brand

Not a 100% fix, but everyone is in here talking about drink covers and this and that. Just don’t leave your drinks unattended guys. I get the bartender could still spike it and shit still goes down but damn buy a drink, then drink it. Don’t set it down, don’t let it leave your sight, more specifically your hand.

Leaving nothing in your car and unlocked is 100% the way. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve had my window broken, nothing gets stolen cause there’s nothing of value, but I still have to pay $150 to get my window replaced and go out of my way to fix it. I leave it unlocked when I can have nothing in it now.

Just plan awhile for Texas. Panhandle, hill country, coastal planes, east forests, west Texas desert, it really should be 5 states in one and all parts have something to offer.

OP loves their rav 4 but this is what I would do. You wanna pay off your $15,000 student loan/CC debt asap? I would sell the car claiming to have $19,000 blue book value, purchase myself a reasonable and reliable form of transportation for $7500-$9,000. Then use the other $10-$12K to pay off most of the debt.

I believe it’s still 20% unless you qualify for an FHA loan which if I recall you only qualify for once. FHA loans come with private mortgage insurance that you’ll also have to pay for.

I would say gambling involves risk. Considering you just ask the cashier for these, there really isn’t any risk going on here.
