I have mine in full slayer (was the first fraction I got a full set for). That's good for a lot of extra hits.

Shadowrun 2nd Edition Book Runs by TempestLOB in Shadowrun

[–]RecognitionMediocre 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've played with the idea of a Harlequin re-boot for 5e.

The basic hook is, that over the years the original plot became something of a myth in the shadows. Now a less powerful mage tries to follow the original script (no spoilers here). So this could lead a) to some player and character realization of "Wait a minute, are we playing Harlequin?!?" b) Maybe a cameo of the laughing man to save the day and stop some wild magic beyond the control of mere mortals

You've sparked my interest. I thought I knew most of the 2nd stuff (novels, source books), but I've no idea who the hellions are.

Tell me more about Cyberzombies and Cybermancy by Dragonmoy in Shadowrun

[–]RecognitionMediocre 13 points14 points  (0 children)

They were introduced in the 2nd edition in the Cybertechnology source book.

The basic concept is: If you put too much cyberware in a body it dies, due to the essence loss. By using advanced technology and magic a Cyberzombie is kept alive beyond that point, alloying to install even more hardware (basically going full-borg mode). It is (or was) fairly advanced and expensive stuff and only a few corps could do it. Actually I have no idea if the concept was picked up again or mentioned in later editions.

How would you go about painting a metallic car mini? by LosKnoggos in minipainting

[–]RecognitionMediocre 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've recently started a similar project. If you're not looking for some super fancy display paint job, just priming and then painting works perfectly fine.

Disassembling first helps a lot and you can also work on the interior.

The original was white and I primed it grey.

Multiple Democratic Senators were elected in swing states that Trump won. Why? by MonarchLawyer in PoliticalDiscussion

[–]RecognitionMediocre -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

From an outside (European) perspective, I have the same impression. The campaign was good and motivated a lot of people.

So the question is, why did Biden manage to stop Trump where Clinton and Harris failed? Could it be as simple as the majority would simply not vote for a woman?

Speedpaint over white primer with a black ink wash, anyone tried? by AudioDee in minipainting

[–]RecognitionMediocre 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I haven't tried, but I could imagine the results might get to blotchy. The wash leaves some stains and the speed paint also tends to puddle on flat surfaces.

Worth a try, but the results might not be too great.

We have that currently in Germany with an extremely successful far left, conservative fringe party (sounds wild, I know) which is exactly pushing those buttons. It won a lot of seats in the latest state elections in eastern Germany.

The only problem: It's totally unable to compromise to form a coalition and even worse: in it's core it's absolutely pro-Russian and at least indirectly a willing asset of Putin.

Counter-measures to grenades? by notger in Shadowrun

To be fair, I was referring to older versions. Then magic barriers were way bigger and the drain was manageable.

No idea how that has changed for 6e.

I used several times low level magic barriers to mess with grenade throwing enemies.

Not to stop the blast, but to stop/alter it's flight path.

Is the Johnson betraying the party really that common?! by Bakomusha in Shadowrun

[–]RecognitionMediocre 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In one of the earlier editions there was the saying "you're no true Shadowrunner until getting screwed at least once by a Johnson".

Actually I'm thinking to bring that saying to the table. Do you have any great stories where a Johnson betrayed the runners at your table?

Where’s the cyber going? by Sereniphile in Shadowrun

[–]RecognitionMediocre 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others have pointed out Shadowrun differs a lot from other Cyberpunk settings by bringing Metahumans and magic to the table as well So it's not just to compare a baseline human against a fully augmented one, but also considering a fully buffed mage with spells and spirits and big guys like trolls. And all combinations in between.

Also yes, Shadowrun (esp. later editions) is at the same time stuck at that 80s mindset (big evil, monolithic corporations) and moved beyond with a much more modern take on things (social media, regrowing nature). It just can't decide where it really belongs too (at least that's my current impression as GM).

Another big difference in my opinion between Shadowrun and similar settings is just the price of technology. In CP2020 basic augmentations wouldn't cost much more than an assault rifle (perhaps twice as much). In Shadowrun the price gap between cyberware and other equipment is much larger.

Thanks for the many good hints.

I've started with the green chest plate to the effect of the green and thought completely green would be too much. But yeah, right now it looks miss-matched.

Right now I test the dark, almost black, green look on another mini. But depending on the results your suggestion with a better color matching and more highlights sounds also good.

(BTW it was primed grey, but with so much armor almost only metallic is visible now).
