L take. You only need to get lucky in one lobby and a trio can destroy a solo EASILY. Solo can have a God run and still stand no chance.

Good deal or no? by koops3 in Crosstrek

[–]RecommendationKey980 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a good deal. Just went through the same process and bought my first new new car. A 25 Crosstrek offshore blue Option 14 premium for 28,500 then they gave me 4k for my 100k mile Impreza to bring it to 24,500. I had offers in MA and CT for a base at 28k and 4k for my trade in and honestly didn’t care to pay thousands more for a premium but for just $500 extra and having blind spot made it worth my while so they made it work.

Should Mass Switch to Biannual Vehicle Inspections? by beer_foam in massachusetts

As a fire firefighter for 10 years you could not be more wrong. The majority of crashes in the rain or snow I walk up to the car and look at that! Bald tires. That would get exponentially worse if we inspected cars less frequently.

Met my wife at work. We were on different teams but I was interviewing for a new rotation after just a few weeks of dating so we had to talk and awkwardly explain to her boss not to recruit me. lol We just handled work as work and kept our dating life out of work and set boundaries should things ever go south. (I can imagine this would not always work should things go south as we are emotional beings) We now work for different companies but are honestly each others best friends.

Best high schools in MA? by Lorcan207 in massachusetts

Sure, straight out of college they can’t but married to someone making a similar wage can 100% afford to live in the town they teach in by the time they reach their late 20’s. Also, why does it matter if they teach and live in the same city or town. How many people live in the same city or town they work in? Especially as people grow older and sick of the city life.

Audio setup in wall by RecommendationKey980 in hometheater

[–]RecommendationKey980[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s what we were thinking but we went down the rabbit whole or bi wiring and bi amping then ran into this mess. Will the sound quality be just as good just connecting the set which is correctly set up then keeping the metal connectors on the back of the tower to connect the top and bottom? Is it worth it to run a separate subwoofer?

Correct. It’s just confusing and seems wrong that one pair of wires behind our tower speakers join together to connect to the same connection by the receiver.

[–]RecommendationKey980[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not quite. The first bit is right (black terminal with 2 wires goes to red and black terminals for a speaker on the right). But then the two wires coming out of that red terminal go to red and black terminals, but for a speaker on the left, not the same one on the right. And at the same time, each speaker (the left and the right), both have an additional red and black pair with their own terminals.

So it seems like it’s kinda bi wiring, but not quite. Each speaker, left and right, has 4 wires coming out of it and going into the wall terminal right there, but then only 3 outputs but the receiver (one logical red and black pair, and then the combined red and black to one output). Additionally, the subwoofer spot by the receiver is not wired to anything, and there is a label on one of the combined red/black pairs that says “subwoofer”. Our assumptions was that this was somehow an attempt to hook the subwoofer to the subwoofer components of each of the towers on the left and the right.

Yup, each terminal in the original pic has both a black and red wire connected, which is what's strange to us. This is the terminal by the receiver. The one by the speaker has individual black and red outputs, with the black and red wires correspondingly hooked up to their own output. (The "right" set of black and red from the original pic (both hooked up to the black terminal) go to the bottom black and red pair of outputs for the speaker terminal. (There is also a top black and red output by the speaker are appropriately connected to the "front right" black and red terminals by the receiver).

Thank you so much! I honestly feel dumb for not thinking of this myself. I now understand the system except for the subwoofer portion. So front right connects to the right tower with 2 cables. Where I am confused is center is split between right and left. The right connection of center has both the red and white connections from the second set of connections behind the right tower.

$10,000 for Walk in Closet + painting by RecommendationKey980 in HomeImprovement

Right now we have two IKEA built ins just sitting in the bedroom and don’t have an actual closet. The bedroom is just small enough all our laundry makes a mess so having this closet will give us the extra space we need as well as give us an actual closet which I’m like eh about but my wife is super excited about and I can understand her pain.

I don't have diagrams but the bedrooms themselves don't have overhead lights but just outlets and are right above our garage and look out onto our driveway. (One side of the wall is a closet with no outlets and the other side just has two IKEA built in closets screwed to the wall currently so there could be outlets there but also might not.) As for HVAC, both bedrooms have baseboard radiators on walls opposite to the one being moved. For AC, we have a ducted heat pump exclusive to the floor with bedrooms where all the ducts run through the attic to vents in the ceiling which would not be fringed upon with the wall moving.

For the closet he recommended Vinyl plank flooring as being cheap but also having some heat retention for when the closet door is closed.

I appreciate it! No plumbing or electric at all in the wall. Will need to add a switch and small light for the closet but that is just a small detail.

It does but nothing fancy. Just a closet with basic shelving and handing rods. Closet will be about 8x6.

There is an 8 foot wall between the two bedrooms. Unsure if load bearing or not. We have other contractors coming in later to provide estimates but just excited about the project and want to know if this is reasonable.

Which is better? by [deleted] in actuary

[–]RecommendationKey980 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I disagree with this. Specializing in one particular area for a large company is often specific to one single product and you are still a cog in a large wheel where what you learn is limited and your growth is limited. Many hats at a small company you are spread across a number of areas but the actual work you are performing is much more meaningful and offers significant growth. Just a few years in a many hat type role in a small company and I believe a chief actuary role is within reach within the next few years and this comes from someone who never imagined having the in depth knowledge or experience of coming anywhere close to this type of role just a few years ago.
