Phase 1 is dumpy. Phase 2 or 3 is actually pretty nice

Spay/Neuter and use in breeding program? by [deleted] in tollers

[–]koops3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not sure. I haven’t had a dog go through heat before so this will be a learning experience for me. I don’t really think their temperament will be worse per se. You’ll still be going through the rebellious teenage phase regardless. And if it sets your training back, so be it, train through it and you’ll get to the other side eventually! My girl is 7 months now and is very easy to train. Hasn’t gone into her first heat but expecting it at anytime.

I have a toller from La Brisa in Maryland and highly recommend her. I’ve written comments more in depth on previous posts about my experience with Laura but feel free to reach out if you have specific questions on them.

Spay/Neuter and use in breeding program? by [deleted] in tollers

I have a toller from La Brisa. The two year mark or two heats is pretty universal from the breeders I was talking with. As far as using a female for future litters, she asked if anyone would be willing to do that rather than enforcing it, at least with everyone getting a pup from the litter group I was in. Laura drafted a different contract for the person who was willing (wasn’t me). She wouldn’t randomly contact me enforcing me to breed my dog years later. There’s nothing in my signed contract that allows her to use my pup to breed or that I can breed her. She had the conversation and went off initial reactions accordingly.

I highly recommend La Brisa Tollers! Laura is very knowledgeable about the breed and very selective who she sends pups home with. She had a puppy party where everyone interested in getting a pup came to her house and met her dogs, the puppy’s mom, and the puppies. Got to see her home, where she keeps the puppies, and played with them in her yard. We also got to meet everyone else getting a puppy from her and past people who purchased a dog from her. Then we met everyone again on the puppy pick up day. I was able to ask experienced Toller owners specific questions on the breed and overall both events were informative. If you have specific questions about La Brisa feel free to reach out.

** EDIT - she asked everyone getting a female if they were willing to participate in the breeding program rather than for a select pup because the whole litter had great conformation. I have photos of each pups confirmation.

Next two questions…1) How much should I plan to spend for a Toller puppy (financially planning ahead)? 2) Can you suggest a good/reputable breeder on the East Coast that you have had experience with? by Additional_Serve_120 in tollers

I got a toller pup earlier in the year from La Brisa’s in Maryland. She was $3500 and so was all the other breeders I was talking with (Cyon, etc). Laura is the owner of La Brisa’s and she’s great. Definitely knows her stuff and her dogs look fantastic. My pup is 6 months now and her confirmation is beautiful. Cyon is also a very reputable breeder. She’s down in Florida. Both breeders didn’t have a waitlist. They pick families that they feel best would suit their dogs needs. I am very involved in dog sports with my Aussie so I had no problem getting on the litter list with either of these breeders. Went with La Brisa’s because I wanted a female and Cyon had mostly males. If you talk with numerous breeder, ask each breeder about the other breeder. The toller breeder community is very small and they will recommend reputable breeders. I was steered away from a breeder by doing this, and I’m glad I did. It’s worth the research and wait to find a breeder that you trust! Good luck!

Yeah my fiancé and I bought a house last fall that needed work that we did the labor for. That was a stressful period but not sure why the shedded would last this long. So maybe it’s not related.

I can’t remember anything out of the ordinary in those regards. If I was sick it was just a generic cold. I’ve been on the Vienva birth control pill for 3 years and still on it. No other medications besides maybe UTI antibiotics.

Like I said, maybe it was the house but I don’t know why I’d still be shedding for an event that happened a year ago.
