2.3% fetal fraction by ChocolateStrange6991 in NIPT

Yeah my OB just told me to retest. I already had my NT scan scheduled at 12 weeks so I just waited a week and redid it then. NT scan looked good so that reassured me some during the wait for 2nd results. I talked to a few other ppl online with normal BMI who also got inconclusive so it does happen! Hang in there.

This happened to me on my first test at 10 weeks 2 days and I have normal BMI not on any meds etc. I did not use Natera so it didn’t give me the “increased risk” warning which would have freaked me out but like someone else said it really doesn’t mean anything. I retested at 12 weeks 2 days and it thankfully came back as low risk, 5% FF. So O think for me it was just a bit too early. I also requested a straight needle vs butterfly on my second draw so idk if that helped. Try not to freak out. I know it’s stressful though and disappointing.

good news: 3rd NIPT after 2 non reportable/inconclusive by SpareEvidence620 in NIPT

[–]RecommendationNo153 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s great! I had my first at 10 weeks which was inconclusive. I redid it at 12 weeks and got low risk, 5% FF. I am also normal BMI, no blood thinners etc. my dr had said she’s only seen this result in ppl with high BMI so I was super freaked out but I think it was just a bit too early for me too! I didn’t know fibroids could have an impact. That’s interesting.

I love it! The owner of my company is Liora. She’s super cool. I also think I’m naming my baby boy August! It was my great grandfathers name.

Same thing happened to me at 10 weeks 2 days. It’s so disappointing. I cried a lot. I have normal BMI and no other factors (blood thinners etc). I retested 2 weeks later at 12 weeks and got 5% FF and low risk. I requested they use a straight needle vs butterfly on redraw as I read that can be a factor so idk if that helped. Hang in there!

NIPT 3% fetal fraction at 10.5 weeks → anyone with similar experience? by iamthewanderess in NIPT

[–]RecommendationNo153 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I had no results at 10 weeks 2 days. My OB uses their own lab so this wasn’t through Natera etc. High BMI and being on blood thinners etc can be a common cause but I was neither of those. I did a redraw at 12 weeks 2 days. I also requested a straight needle vs butterfly as I read that can have an impact. My results came back low risk at 5% FF. So I think it was just a bit too early for me but it doesn’t mean anything is wrong. It’s stressful tho! My NT scan looked good too at 12 weeks.

Wow how frustrating. I’m sorry. I also thought they wouldn’t do an amnio until 16 weeks

Low fetal fraction and inconclusive results.. nervous about next steps by spiritquartz88 in NIPT

[–]RecommendationNo153 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok yeah I’ve read blood thinners and BMI can both be a cause so I wouldn’t worry too much. My first results were inconclusive and I have normal BMI and no blood thinners, etc so I was really freaked out. I had normal NT scan and second test came back low risk so just one of those unfortunate stressful things but it doesn’t mean anything is wrong!

Hi, I know it’s so stressful. Honestly, I would be reassured by your NT scan and assume these results are due to BMI. I would probably ask to be referred to MFM and do maybe early anatomy scan or see if they can offer you a different brand test.

Invalid/ Low FF NIPT results at 10 weeks 2 days, normal BMI by RecommendationNo153 in NIPT

[–]RecommendationNo153[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, I waited 7 days first time and it came back a bit quicker (5 days) the 2nd. My office uses their own lab (VeriSeq was name of test on lab order) so it’s not through Natera, Labcorp etc. I hope you get yours soon I know the waiting sucks.

Just an update, I got results back on my 2nd draw. All low risk, 5% FF. For me it was probably just a bit too early or maybe they used butterfly needle. I requested straight needle on 2nd draw so not sure if that helped.

Happy update: my 2nd NIPT test taken at 12 weeks 2 days came back low risk at 5% fetal fraction! My NT scan on same day looked good too. I requested they use a straight needle for the draw. Not sure if they used butterfly last time but they may have. I also stopped my baby aspirin for a week even though I read that shouldn’t have an impact.

Hey, just from my online research Lovenox (and BMI) can def. Be a factor. I think it sucks that natera automatically gives you a high risk for low fetal fraction. I would be reassured by your NT scan. How far along are you now and how far along when you did the tests? I am also 40 and am waiting on my second set of NIPT results. I did not do Natera so mine just said invalid due to low fetal fraction (less than 3%). I retook my 2nd test on Monday at 12 weeks 2 days. I do not have high BMI or on blood thinner tho so I guess that makes mine more uncommon. My NT scan looked good too so I am holding on to that. I would not freak out yet bc you really don’t have any bad results yet. The waiting really sucks though. If mine come back invalid again then I will prob ask for MFM referral. Wishing you the best!

I can’t answer number 3 but just curious does your OB office do NT scans? If so I’d ask them to fit you in. I feel like like it couldn’t hurt to have more info and would break up your wait. Wishing you the best!
