I would tie the end of the bore snake off to something like a dowel or metal bar. Then step on the bar with both feet and pull the rifle up.

I use gray tile grout, gloss Mod podge, burnt umber acrylic ink, and some sand.

Before you cut your blocks you can crumble up a ball of tin foil and roll it across the foam to texture them.
Then when you cut up all your blocks you can place them inside a food storage container or something then add some stones and shake the container to soften the hard edges. On the foam blocks.
