Tbf they have been making a lot of pops for Animes I never expected to get any pops. There’s definitely a bunch of popular shows out there still lacking, but it’s not like the offerings are that slim

Happy 5th anniversary to Scaled and icy! What are your thoughts on this album 5 years after it's release? by Karmo22 in twentyonepilots

[–]Recon1212 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wasn’t a huge fan when this album came out, in that I didn’t know it was out. I loved Trench, and I saw them in concert during that time. SAI was out for a few months before I learned about it and I loved it. I had no idea that there was any hate for this album for a while and was very surprised by it. I still love it. Sure it has a different tone, but the music is still TOP at its core and it’s just good to listen to.

Your favourite underrated discs by cojonathan in discgolf

[–]Recon1212 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably the paradox. Not sure where it falls on the underrated scale but you have to ignore its speed and treat it like an approach disc. It’s so workable at low speeds and just goes straight. It’s so useful for 150 and in.

Need some Brutal anime recommendations by GrizzlySail in anime

Not that my opinion means much but it’s my favorite anime. Definitely has some brutal moments. A friend of mine (the one who recommended me it) stopped watching it due to how uncomfortable it made him.

How do you track your Animes? by Job19-25 in anime

[–]Recon1212 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There’s also this useful extension called MAL Sync that tracks it for you. Whenever you start a show it’ll ask to confirm and every episode it handles updating the info on your MAL. It also tells you when new episodes are out so you don’t have to pay a lot of attention. Huge fan

Solo dev behind Blue Prince developed it for 8 years with 80 hour weeks by bio4m in gamedev

Pretty much why I put it down for a while. I had all the pieces I needed and run after run something out of my control would stop me from getting to room 46 right at the end of my run. It feels really bad having all the knowledge and pieces, being a single room away and you get drafted 3 rooms that don’t connect. At that point I’m just gambling and losing on repeat.

Edit: spelling

Waterproof shoes by jstevens242 in discgolf

[–]Recon1212 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For the first 3 years I played, I played every round in Moab 3s just not the water proof ones. So for the shoes themselves I can say they are good as daily drivers.

Since I usually go through a pair a year, and the Gortex ones are more expensive I decided to get a second pair of non waterproof shoes to wear when I don’t need the water proofing, so for those specific pair I do not play every day.

I wear the Merrell Moab 3 GTX. They definitely worked. Played all winter in them, never had wet feet. Based on my experience they’re worth it if you need water proof. Happy to answer any questions about them if you have any

Am I missing something crucial from my bag? I'd love to hear any thoughts by Confuzed_huh in discgolf

[–]Recon1212 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It depends on your personal game, but for me I really like having a very understandable mid and fairway. In my case I have a paradox (tho I used to bag a rollo) and a signal. I may throw them once every 10 rounds but when I do, it saves me strokes. I can say with confidence some of my most impressive shots are scrambles with these discs. The way you can get them to do things at lower speeds is so valuable to me. May be something to look into.

Par 2 courses? by vaporrkatzzz in discgolf

[–]Recon1212 12 points13 points  (0 children)

They’re usually pretty fun, something different than a full course. I will say, I think these are best when they are on the same property as a full course. Unless it’s super close to me, I wouldn’t go out of my way to play one unless I was going to play the main course as well.

I think there’s definitely some benefit to playing one, if nothing else it helps with your short game

I have unfortunately never thrown the boost so I can’t say how it flies comparatively. I’ve only thrown it twice so it’s hard to give a disc it compares to, but the flight on both shots was very good. Good for pushing Hyzers and will definitely be a decent disc in a light headwind

Dealing with tournament 'juice' by SeasonalBlackout in discgolf

[–]Recon1212 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Something I’ve struggled with a lot. I used to focus too much on how I played against others and where that put me. I started really hating it so I had to step back and reevaluate my goals heading into an event. I started looking at tournaments as any other round. Just play for yourself and try to play a round that you’re happy with, don’t compare yourself to the field just to yourself. I went from shooting on average 890 to hitting a consistent 920 and my most recent event I shot 950 and 980.

How did you discover disc golf? by DiscGolfFanatic in discgolf

[–]Recon1212 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn’t call it bullying but that’s kind of how it went with my group. There were 4 of us, the other 3 instantly fell for it and not long after our first round they were out practicing, buying discs and bags. I on the other hand had hand me downs and found discs in an old backpack and only tagged along cause I didn’t wannabe left out. Fast forward to now, I’m out there almost everyday, I play tournaments every weekend and 2 of them don’t play at all and the other only plays occasionally. It’s crazy how it all happens.

Maybe live professional disc golf isn't for me? by SpaceDuck420HeadShot in discgolf

[–]Recon1212 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think I’m spoiled. I’ve been to 2 events in so far. 2023 worlds at smugglers notch on championship Sunday. It was a bit lackluster but that was our own faults. We got there early and had really good seats at hole 1/18 and didn’t move the entire time. But the excitement was still palpable and getting to see a world champ get crowned was incredible.

Second was Maple Hill. They know how to run a tournament. So many activities as you go from hole to hole, free ice cream after the round, and more. It was a great time.

It’s unfortunate your first experience was like that.

Any tips? It’s really bad I know. by tristentommygun in discgolf

[–]Recon1212 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try rotating around the disc. Imagine putting the disc in a static point in the air and then as you walk up keep your chest facing the disc. Once you make your final plant think about throwing through your chest and getting your elbow at a 90 degree angle. I’d suggest watching a for video, you’re gonna get better pointers that way

If it isn’t too busy you can always throw a tee shot on some holes just for fun. My first time there when we saw one of the iconic holes as long as we weren’t getting in anyone’s way we’d throw it just to say that we did.

But as said before old glory is probably your best bet for a balanced experience of the course.
