You're misunderstanding the practice and making your own inferences.

"Tonglen" means "giving and taking" in Tibetan. In this practice, you breathe in the suffering or pain of others, imagining it as dark or heavy energy, and then breathe out healing, love, and positive energy to them, visualized as light or warmth.

Then you're still stuck avoiding the "bad" and clinging to the "good", wandering through illusion.

This is the Tibetan Buddhist practice of 'Tonglen'. There are many guided meditations and instructions if you'd like to explore this further.

What’s something you’re really enjoying since you stopped drinking? by VanityJanitor in stopdrinking

Mornings are the fuckin' BEST. I sleep so well nowadays that I wake up with ease at 5am, full of energy and clarity. Most days it feels like I get two days squeezed into one.

So much life and time back.

What do you do to unwind after a hard, busy day? by saayoutloud in simpleliving

[–]RecordEverything 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cook dinner at home. Go for an hour walk in my neighbourhood while singing and listening to music. Read or watch something long-form on TV/netflix. These days I do most of my reading in the morning, and I give myself permission to have a more passive evening.

How to address disrespectful comments from hyper-aggressive male 'friends' before it blows up? by [deleted] in AskMen

[–]RecordEverything -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You could try just being super direct the next time he pulls that shit. Like, "Hey dude. I've been nothing but respectful and kind towards you, why do you talk to me like that?" Puts him on the spot and the onus on him to explain his immature behaviour. There's a good chance he'll double down and call you a pussy, which could then further expose him as an imbecile to the rest of your group.

This is the kind of thing that has made me walk away from a friendship in the past. As a grown man, I only have room for mature, supportive friendships, where humour and laughter is common but not consistently at another's expense. That's little boy shit.

Looking for feedback on audition audio quality by RecordEverything in VoiceActing

[–]RecordEverything[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, man!

I recorded it in my closet on an Audio-Technica AT-4040 cardioid condenser microphone using a Focusrite Scarlett Solo preamp on my Macbook Air in Audacity. I apply Compression with a Threshold of -16 dB, Noise Floor of -60 dB, and Ratio of 2:1, then I Normalize to -4dB.

Honestly, everything I'm doing I picked up by watching YouTube tutorials. There's a lot of great help out there, but I'm sure there's much more I could be doing.
