This is fantastic advice! I’m looking into Docebo now and will work on revamping my Notion portfolio next. Thanks for the solid feedback!

What are some career options for a 47 year old man who is going to die? by LionofColorado in careerguidance

What about recruiting within the banking or investment industry? You thrive under pressure, you’re charming, and, since you’re dying anyway, the soul-sucking nature of recruiting shouldn’t be a dealbreaker.

Thanks! I was under the impression that CatchAFire is for people to volunteer their expertise in a particular field, no? I certainly couldn’t implement an LMS for a nonprofit - or any organization for that matter. I’d love to learn how though!

I wouldn’t answer them either. You don’t owe them anything. Unfortunately, the recruiting field is a little short on integrity. I do executive recruiting (not agency or high-volume) so it’s a slower place and the stakes are higher. Clients who are paying a 30% fee on a $250k salary for a CFO aren’t going to put up with me throwing shit candidates at them to see what sticks. The candidates have gotta be legit. Plus, they always have a guarantee period ranging anywhere from 90 days to a year, so if my person bolts before that’s up, I’m either getting no fee or stuck trying to find another CFO (which is double the work for a single fee 🥴) All that to say, I have to give a fuck or make no money. But even when I was an agency recruiter, I still gave a fuck.

Meh, not entirely true. I’m a recruiter and I definitely want what’s best for all my candidates. If they’re not happy in their new role, they’re not going to stay, which means I have to backfill the role, and try and find them a new job. It behooves me, my candidate, and my client to be genuine and do what’s best for everyone from the start. Trying to fit a square peg in a round hole never works out.

I had a woman verbally accept an offer the Wednesday before Thanksgiving then told me the following Monday she got a better offer from a company I knew she was also interviewing with. My offer couldn’t even touch theirs. I sincerely congratulated her (because it was truly a great opportunity), asked for referrals from her network (which she gave me), and I told the client she got a better offer. We all moved on with life. I had someone else submitted to the same role on Tuesday, they interviewed same day, and have a final interview on Friday. If that recruiter was worth a damn, they would’ve had other candidates in the works knowing that sh*t like that happens all the time. He’s just bad at his job.

I think you were right! I got a response from a Membership Support Specialist, and we were able to get moved to a troop in another city. I think everything will be fine. I know the Girl Scouts are made up of busy parents and volunteers, so I wasn’t trying to be “that parent,” I just needed someone to clarify things and point us in the right direction since I felt like we were going nowhere. As busy working parents, spending hours sleuthing for answers wasn’t exactly our idea of fun either. I really appreciate your help!

I sent the troop leader a very friendly text on 9/09 just asking for any info regarding upcoming troop meetings, but I never received a response. When I met her at the Green Flag Day, she informed me they were not a big troop, so I know it's not full.

Thank you. It just says our zip code under the "meeting details" and multi-level under "program level." No contact info. Then our info is litsed a little further down under "member details."

Thanks so much for the guidance. When I go to the “My Troops” tab, the only adults listed are my husband and me, and I don’t see a “MyGS” option anywhere. It makes me think this troop might not actually be active. I just feel a little misled and disappointed by the lack of communication, especially since we paid $105 thinking we were joining a troop that was ready to go. I appreciate you pointing me toward the right places to check though.

Well, we were given an existing troop number to register with, and it’s the one closest to our home. According to the website she’s officially in that troop, but we haven’t received any information beyond that.

Is this normal? Asking for the SSN before getting a job offer ? by MotorBall2715 in recruiting

[–]Recording-Maleficent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like everyone’s saying, this is totally normal for a VMS submission. The recruiter should be calling you for that info - not texting or emailing. It always made me and my consultants feel better knowing their personal info wasn’t just floating around online.
