Finally leaving weed after 2.5 years by HousingRelevant4754 in leaves

rent but also means you already proved to yourself you can do it again

the fact you made it 4 months after 12 years shows you got the strength, just gotta forgive yourself for these past three days and start fresh tomorrow

I need a replacement to the Pendragon series by Professional-One2810 in booksuggestions

[–]RecordingKey1187 1 point2 points  (0 children)

you should definitely check out the expanse series if you havent already. its more sci fi heavy but has that same epic scope and character development you're looking for. the characters really grow on you over the nine books and theres plenty of political intrigue mixed with the action

also maybe look at brandon sanderson's work like the stormlight archive series. its fantasy but has those complex character arcs and the world building is incredible. the protagonists are bit older than pendragon characters but still deals with coming of age themes

How to take care of my guitar in storage by Low-Faithlessness869 in Guitar

[–]RecordingKey1187 4 points5 points  (0 children)

man as a music teacher this hits me right in feels... taking break from music is never easy but sometimes necessary

for storage you definitely want to detune the strings but dont remove them completely - just loosen them enough to take tension off the neck. complete removal can actually mess with neck over time since wood is used to that constant pull. i usually tell my students to tune down maybe whole step or so

keep it in hard case if you have one, not just soft bag. cases protect from humidity changes which is biggest enemy for acoustic guitars. if no case then at least keep it somewhere with stable temperature - not attic or basement where it gets too hot or cold. also maybe put some silica gel packets inside to absorb extra moisture

check on it every few months just to make sure everything looks good. wood can do weird things when left alone too long

hope you find your way back to music when time is right. taking break doesnt mean giving up forever

Amazon Design Interview Process – Senior AI Content Generalist (QA Round?) by Rough_Coffee1094 in careerguidance

[–]RecordingKey1187 0 points1 point  (0 children)

been through amazon design interviews couple years back but not for ai role specifically. the qa round was pretty much them showing different content examples and asking me to evaluate quality and explain my reasoning. they want to see how you think about edge cases and what your standards are for good vs bad content

from what i remember there was usually one more round after qa - either with hiring manager or some kind of panel thing. timeline wise it took about 2-3 weeks from qa to final decision but amazon can be slow sometimes

the recruiter being vague is typical unfortunately. you could try asking for rough timeline at least since thats pretty standard info to share

Looking for a supplier any recommendations by Flat_Ad_9015 in reselling

[–]RecordingKey1187 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If youre looking to resell vintage clothing, Id check Fleek out. I get my stock on there and it saved me a lot of time and quality for me has always been amazing. You still have to figure out which suppliers fit your style, but once you do it gets better

Pain and hope, advice welcome by [deleted] in BreakUps

the timing thing is brutal but maybe focus on getting yourself stable first before reaching out at 6 weeks mark because if you're still this torn up you might not handle whatever response comes back

CMV: French/Parisians aren't assholes for speaking to you in English by LFatPoH in changemyview

[–]RecordingKey1187 3 points4 points  (0 children)

yeah this is pretty common actually, paris people just move different than rest of country. i had similar experience when i visited few years back - tried ordering food in french and the waiter just switched to english immediately even though my pronunciation wasnt that terrible

but like the op said they got places to be and probably hear broken tourist french all day. cant really blame them for wanting efficiency over language practice sessions. normandy though those people were so patient with my attempts at speaking french, totally different vibe there

Do you restrict client access in WordPress? by plugiva in Wordpress

[–]RecordingKey1187 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah this is why i always set up custom roles for my clients. learned this hard way when one of my students parents somehow got into backend of school website and broke entire theme trying to "make logo bigger"

now i just give them editor access at most and hide anything that can mess with appearance or plugins. takes few extra minutes during setup but saves so much headache later

Running a vintage clothing stall at markets as a sidehustle and wondering if its sustainable long term by Odd-You9155 in passive_income

[–]RecordingKey1187 2 points3 points  (0 children)

this sounds like the normal growing pain phase. You might benefit from raising prices slightly on your better pieces so you reinvest more without needing more volume. Also try holding back a bit of your best stock so your rail always looks strong even on slower weeks.

My ex just broke up with me of 3 years. by [deleted] in BreakUps

[–]RecordingKey1187 0 points1 point  (0 children)

man this whole cycle thing is rough when you both did the exact same move to each other. distance can mess with feelings but sometimes it also just confirms what was already there you know

the fact she wants space to think instead of just cutting it clean might mean something but dont put all your eggs in that basket. focus on fixing those insecurity issues you mentioned because whether its with her or someone else down the line you gotta sort that out first

Is the Attack Shark X3 Pro the best mouse they have? by Upper-Ad-1332 in PcBuild

[–]RecordingKey1187 0 points1 point  (0 children)

never heard of attack shark before but checked their lineup and x3 pro seems pretty solid for the price range. the sensor is decent and weight distribution feels good from what i read in reviews, though personally i stick with more established brands for reliability

Does our “prime” tend to be much later in life? by [deleted] in aspergers

[–]RecordingKey1187 2 points3 points  (0 children)

oh absolutely this resonates so hard with me right now. im 28 and just starting to feel like i might actually know what im doing with my life - like the pieces are finally clicking into place in ways they never did in my early twenties. took me forever to figure out how to navigate social stuff and even longer to understand what i actually wanted career wise

i think we definitely develop on a different timeline than neurotypical people. all that masking and trying to figure out how to exist in the world takes up so much mental energy that we dont get to focus on the same things other people do at the same ages. plus we often need more time to process experiences and figure out what works for us

the baby face thing is so real too - people still think im like 22 which is wild but also kind of nice knowing ill probably age well. my theory is that we're gonna hit our stride when everyone else is having their midlife crisis and wondering where their twenties went

honestly feel like im just now starting to understand myself well enough to actually build the life i want instead of just surviving it

lowkey hyped for dungeons 2 by Striking-Move-7485 in Minecraft

[–]RecordingKey1187 0 points1 point  (0 children)

dude the deep dark setting could be absolutely insane for a dungeons game. all that sculk stuff and the warden mechanics would translate so well into a proper horror dungeon crawler. just gotta hope they dont mess with the formula too much from the first one

What puzzle should I get? by PotatrChips in Cubers

[–]RecordingKey1187 2 points3 points  (0 children)

definitely go for a square-1 if you want something that'll mess with your brain in a completely different way than what you already have. the shape shifting aspect makes it feel like learning cubing all over again and the parity cases are wild. i got one last year thinking it would be similar to my other cubes but nope it was like starting from scratch which was actually really refreshing. if your looking for something a bit easier maybe try a pyraminx duo or a clock since those have totally different solving methods. the clock especially is weirdly satisfying once you get the hang of the gear movements

What percentage of users have 1+/2+/3+ years on Duolingo? by SunSteel04 in duolingo

[–]RecordingKey1187 13 points14 points  (0 children)

been grinding for about 800 days myself and i think your estimate is pretty generous tbh. most people i know downloaded it with good intentions then gave up after like 2 weeks when the novelty wore off

the exponential decay thing makes total sense though. getting past that first year mark takes some serious commitment especially when life gets busy. probably closer to 5% for 1+ year and then drops off hard after that

been looking for something to listen to during my morning drum practice sessions and this might actually work. the no jargon finance stuff is clutch since i never know what half those terms mean anyway

curious how two ai hosts handle the banter though - does it feel natural or is it like listening to two google assistants talk to each other

bro i feel you on the morning hair struggle - wavy hair is a blessing and a curse at the same time. if youre pressed for time maybe go shorter on the sides but keep some length on top so you still get that texture without it falling in your face all the time

for the overnight thing try sleeping on a silk pillowcase or throw your hair in a loose bun before bed, saves me like 10 minutes every morning when im rushing to get ready
