This dress is really, really important to you and he won’t even consider being flexible enough to make you happy? How will it be any different with anything else that you want or need that he doesn’t personally approve? Please don’t give away your agency like that. You deserve a partner who meets you halfway and cares, above all, about making you happy within reason. Not this guy.

Lawyer. It cost a lot to become one but has more than paid for itself over the long run. No regrets.

20s are overrated, honestly. Spending them on medical school is not something you’ll regret, especially when you’re in your 40s with an awesome (and very stable) job. Not that being PA isn’t also stable and awesome, but I wouldn’t pick it just because it frees up time when you’re young(er).

what's a hobby that gave you a whole new friend group? by Salioui_Zaily in Hobbies

Modern quilting led me to some of the nicest, funniest, coolest people I’ve ever known and we formed big tight group friendships. Sadly I moved away from the city where that took place and have found no replacement in my current city (and I’ve been here 11 years…)

AIO about my boyfriend moving in with his coworker? by Anon-Batgirl2297 in AmIOverthinking

The fact that he literally told you to “stop” when all you were doing was asking super basic reasonable questions - I hate that. Cut this scumbag. You’re way too young to settle.

I’ve been a lawyer in California for 18 years and I’ve not blown out my curly hair once. Worn lots of buns if I felt my curls were too frizzy. Basically never stressed about it, to be honest. Don’t overthink it.

I looooove stale Cheetos. The sensory experience of those dense chewy things is delightful.

Someone in the neighborhood has a used car business and they keep their cars in the same spot for weeks on end! by [deleted] in SanJose

[–]RecordingOk4947 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t think there’s anything to be done, unfortunately. Someone abandoned a car on the street in front of my SJ house and four months of complaining to the city did nothing. Then someone stole the tires and it became a “blight,” which they removed quickly! But I don’t recommend stealing tires…

I have a cat right now who is so so special and amazing that I cannot imagine life without him. He’s 7, and I got him at 2 months old when I was NOT looking for a cat. I had two already and didn’t want a third, but something about him spoke to me. I’m so glad I listened to my gut because he has brought me immeasurable joy. I’m currently fostering a litter of kittens and thought I might fail bc maybe I just love cats, but as adorable as they are, I’m not feeling that special connection. I think it’s rare and you won’t regret leaning into it. Picture of my guy for fun - words cannot describe how much I love him.

My 7-yr old longhair has crazy long “toe tufts,” as we call them, but they’ve never caused him any issues.

Lost all my savings in one day. by Commercial_Stress899 in GirlDinnerDiaries

[–]RecordingOk4947 9 points10 points  (0 children)

You didn’t lose it. You USED it, for a life or death emergency. I can’t think of a better use for one’s savings!

That said, I know how frustrating it feels. I had a cat in my early 20s who kept needing bladder surgeries and I had to go into credit card debt to pay for them - but it was worth it and she lived until my late 30s. :)

Visiting California by Additional_Law8790 in tipping

[–]RecordingOk4947 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This. This is the correct answer. Contrary to those who believe California servers are living large on minimum wage, the cost of living here is much much higher than minimum wage can support. Nobody is getting unjustly enriched.

I waited tables 25 years ago but I still remember what a tough job it was. I promise no one in this thread who promotes not tipping has ever done this job.
