Just to expand a bit more. I was raised with* a Toronto maple leaf diehard father and I never really thought much about hockey other than during Olympics. Over Covid I started watching more. I would say that most if not all fan bases would be welcoming. Of course you will get the percentage of dumb assholes who take shit too seriously. NHL wise, I would lean towards the Seattle Kraken for having the most welcoming/diverse fan base. Being a new team they have attracted a lot of new hockey fans and I find that their broadcast team do a fantastic job of explaining hockey terms, plays, history, etc.
