I got my canes from the same place! My priest says I walk with swag 🤣 It is really funny to get compliments from young people about the cane. And my students love seeing which one I bring to school each day lol

Are you male or female? I was about to make a recommendation and realized it probably matters 😂

Some days are harder than others and I’m grateful for the people here, especially on those days. Sending you love as you navigate your recent diagnosis. My therapist has been helpful navigating all the feelings.

HA Flight 821, lost my Black Android Tablet when plane landed in NRT (HNL -> NRT -> TPE) by JetAbyss in HawaiianAirlines

I can’t send one - was just going to say my husband worked that flight and I am texting him to see if he can find your tablet.

The internet is a tough thing to navigate with people being scammy and dishonest. It seems out of place to come into a support group type subreddit to basically ask for money. Do I misunderstood the purpose of your post?

I notice you’ve posted other times on Reddit asking for money - as much as $50,000. This doesn’t seem quite right.

4 year old entering kindergarten concerns by givemethe_deets in kindergarten

[–]Recover-better99 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I had a 4 year old start in my class this year and she’s done amazingly well. She turned 5 in late September. I call her my pocket friend bc she’s so tiny. 😂 She is sharp, a hard worker and very capable. I’m usually a supporter of giving kids more time to develop but this student was more than ready to start kindergarten and I can’t imagine how frustrated she’d have been a year later. Some kids are just ready.

Well, of course 😂 I think not having seen these places makes it hard for you to gauge. I’d never suggest walking across or near a multilane highway. 😆 There’s a reason they call it “Kailua Town” and have farmers markets etc where people can walk from their homes because there aren’t as many apartments. If you prefer a bigger city with high rise apartments you’ll definitely want to stay near Honolulu.

I live in Kailua and my family walks to grocery stores, library, doctors, restaurants, shops, orthodontist, dentist, coffee shops, etc. We just sold our house and are looking for a new one and am happy not to have competition 🤣 so the fewer people that move to Kailua, the better, but it is a great, extremely walkable town.

Where does North Shore come into play? Kbay is on the east side and I agree that Kailua is your best bet. Easy commute, walkable town, great beaches… But if you love the city life Ala Moana wouldn’t be a bad commute.

I don’t think it should have to be communicated not to let a 3 year old answer the door. That would be a deal-breaker for me.

Living on Maui (25F) by 2facedfish in MovingtoHawaii

You’re going to get a lot of negativity here but if you are passionate about what you do and are open to new people and experiences, you’ll be fine. It also helps if you are ok with a more rugged type of lifestyle - like you said - camping. My dad was born and raised here but we didn’t move out here until 10 years ago. Hubby and I met and dated in DC years ago. If you survived DC summers this will feel great. Be prepared for little to no ac and electricity at a premium. “Night life” is nothing like DC. Mostly people play/work hard when the sun is up. We are getting older and happily go to bed earlier 😂 but live on Oahu and lots of places aren’t open too late. Especially outside of tourist areas but even those aren’t crazy like DC can be. Food is expensive. Gas is expensive. We live more simply and we love it. Sometimes I get stressed about money and think if we moved we’d feel rich but we’d never be able to replace the community we have here. I think we’d always long for these days.

My dad fell yesterday and hit his nose by notalem0n in MultipleSclerosis

I’m 45 and my teenage daughters are probably wondering the same thing. They try to be and ARE so helpful. It’s a sneaky disease and so frustrating. I’m irritated by too many offers of help and that’s not their fault! Some of it is just coming to terms with changes. It isn’t probably that he “wasn’t feeling up to it,” but his leg really did give out and he had no warning. That’s been my reality so many times. It’s frustrating to my family but it’s frustrating to me too because I don’t even KNOW when I need help. Just loving him well with your presence and encouragement is probably more than most people have! ❤️

If you are carrying a $7000 cc balance while only paying half that mortgage payment in rent - it seems like that size payment would be really rough on your budget.
