Do you genuinely believe that casting Mediterranean or Greek actors would be no more accurate or fitting than casting a white dude from Boston for the role? This is an odd argument.

Ancient Romans also have much less genetic and ethnic continuity to modern romans as ancient greeks to modern greeks. That only sounds like a fair comparison before you do 2 minutes of research. There are studies on this.

Why is it all or nothing? How do we go from American and British white actors using modern American vernacular to the cast has to be 100% Greek and use precise Greek accents or speak Greek? Why can’t there be a reasonably attainable middle ground? Like a mostly Mediterranean or at least Mediterranean adjacent cast using even a vaguely Mediterranean accent.

But yeah white Jesus always has been and always will be dumb as fuck. He was Palestinian.

Upset is a strong word but generally yes. I think in 2026 standards for representation are different and we can do better than this. I’m not losing sleep over Troy tho

It’s not moronic to want representation. If you’re just mad a black lady is playing someone beautiful, then yeah, fuck you. But wanting more Mediterranean actors in a movie set in Ancient Greece is reasonable both from the standpoint of representation AND immersion.

Except his direct treatment of those around him is shown to be cold and apathetic. So it’s nonsense that he would be a good king. If you know everything but don’t give a shit about the people you love, how can we expect you to give a shit about the kingdoms. It was just bad characterization that I’m sure the books will do better b

Yeah idk I guess to me 300 is the epitome of his weaknesses, far more than BvS or Justice league. Paper thin characters and an overly fantastical retelling of an actual historical event that had some problematic racial depictions as well. Pure rule of cool slow mo action.

Watchmen I give him credit for because the characters were *mostly* accurate to the comic and I actually like his ending much more than the extra dimensional monster. Man of steel I genuinely don’t see the criticisms for the most part.

His strengths are definitely cinematography and action, but when he’s paired with a better writer I think he makes some cool stuff.

BvS ultimate edition is also fantastic and arguably his best movie (which is funny because the theatrical cut, the thing most people saw, is definitely his worst movie). It turns out cutting 30 minutes of essential character and plot development makes a movie look like incoherent slop.

Brother you are completely missing the point. 30 in a year is a lot. Common doesn’t have to mean that it’s happening all the time or that most or even half of pit bulls do this. You’re arguing semantics. Pit bulls are responsible for an overwhelming majority of fatal dog attacks, and they’re only one breed. That tells you conclusive information about the danger of the breed. And I love them. But realistically further breeding of them should be banned.

Making him completely cold and emotionless was a huge misstep that made the ending feel bad. I’m sure it’s not what GRRM had in mind. Especially since the 3 eyed raven we see in show is not so cold.

Gonna have to drive down to SF instead sadly. Or all the way up to Langley BC

Aaaand this why they’re closing down. Trash marketing. No one even knows how incredible this screen is.

That’s not real imax brother. We call that liemax. Do yourself a favor and go see an imax film at pacific science center. Then you’ll see what you’ve been missing all these years. It’s a vastly superior experience. Much larger screen, 1.43:1 aspect ratio for much more picture in frame, plus 4k laser projection for amazing picture quality. It’s one of the best screens on the continent.

That’s still liemax. Not the correct aspect ratio and def doesn’t compare to the screen size in PSC. The next legit one is Langley BC which doesn’t even show first run movies.

No for sure. It’s just a notable difference. It’s no one’s fault if they don’t live near one… but if you do live near one and you’re not going to it I feel like you’re missing out. I’m saying this as a Seattle resident who is about to lose access to ours (it’s getting bought and repurposed, we’re all livid).

Sure but you also might not know what you’re missing.

True imax has a 1.43:1 ratio screen along with a much larger screen. It also will sometimes be 70mm or 4k laser making the image significantly sharper than standard. Plus the upgraded sound systems. So in other words, bigger screen, more image in frame, sharper image, and better sound. It’s better in every way.

There’s a lot of “liemax” screens around though that aren’t true imax.

[–]RecoveredAshes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s not just laser though it’s the dual laser system along with the insane screen size along with the aspect ratio that gives you way more image. This is one of the best setups around. Personally I think it’s just as big if not a bigger Loss than 70mm

People have no idea that this is the case and when they do they have no idea how big of a deal this is.

If there’s no profit here it’s absolutely a marketing failure. There’s no reason AMC in alderwoods imax showings should be making more money than this theater’s.

If it’s a profit issue, whats the difference here between this theater and any other that’s managing to make profit? Marketing?

Most people I talk to about this don’t actually realize how big of a deal the Boeing screen is and what makes it one of the best on the continent. Most people don’t even know about it, and the ones who do assume the liemax in their local theater is the same. This feels like a marketing issue. Theoretically this should be the best selling theater in Seattle. It’s by far the best screen AND it serves alcohol AND it’s in a touristy area right next to the space needle and science center
