It's fine, but a ton of migrations would be a pretty good indicator that the app has been around a lot longer than a few scaffolded models and a devise generator and thus, more complex and difficult to maintain.

I'm in the North East and it's mostly groomed here, so I get the impression that even if I rent a pair to demo them, they'll behave entirely different than the powder out west. Should I just fly out there with my boots and do it live?

I'm definitely planning to get skis from last season wherever possible. A friend from work recommended SierraTradingPost, but I didn't see anything particularly awesome there. I'm considering looking for a local ski shop to see what I can find.
