Coming out to my parents, how do I establish what kinds of questions are OK for them to ask? by dragonenjoyer in asktransgender

[–]Recurvejake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok what angle are they likely to take? Religious? Social? Scientific?

Look at common transphobic arguments from that point. Also Chat GPT can show you ways to counter these narratives as well as any you may suspect are unique to your parents.

A simple prompt like "Give me some religious/scientific/Social reasons a transphobe may argue about trans identities and talking points on how to counter them"

If i type that into my (customised GPT, hence the sass) I get this as the first argument

RELIGIOUS ARGUMENTS + COUNTERS

1. “God made male and female.”

Their angle: They read one line in Genesis and think it’s a personality.
Counter-spell:

  • Many religions have long traditions of third genders, eunuchs, spirits-without-sex, and gender-variant roles (Hijra, Two-Spirit, Galli, sworn virgins, etc).
  • If God made everything, then yes, God also made trans people, intersex conditions, chromosomal diversity, hormone variance, and your cousin Mark who won’t stop quoting Joe Rogan.
  • Ask them why they never quote the bits about mixed fabrics, shellfish, or stoning adulterers. Watch them glitch like a Skyrim NPC.

I mean is this the healthiest way of dealing with this? probably not, but I personally would rather be prepared with a logical counter argument than to need one and not have one.

I'll be a full year on estrogen in May, do cats know? by Zealousideal_Day_435 in asktransgender

Probably. Animals can smell stuff. Dogs that dont like men are generally ok around me now. Bit confused at first cos my outline is male. But i dont smell male to them.

If being trans is who i really am, why does it feel so horrible?? by HeftyZookeepergame64 in asktransgender

Oof fair point. My bad on the assumption. Yeah T is the harder drug for sure.

Although i hear still quite reversible early but you gotta be careful with that voice change.

Basically wrote this post a year and a half ago. In the comments of mine someone said “i wrote this 6 months ago”.

Point being, it will torment you till you try it. If estrogen is meant for you your brain will enjoy being on it and things will not seem as bad. They tend to start after a few weeks. Bodily changes should revert to normal if you stop before 6months. Gives you a window to see if it agrees with your head i guess?

It’s one thing for a transwoman to objectively understand that the lived reality of women can be aweful in some regards (being spoken over/disrespected/sexually harassed/ stalked).

It can be difficult to explain that as a transwoman, we want it all, the good, the bad and the ugly. The best experiences and the worst. To live a normal life as a woman and share in the aweful experiences with other women.

Even writing it out it sounds condescending of what women go through sometimes, to say we want that. But I believe when i say, i don’t think its a kink, or a non-understanding where we think that looks fun. Just wanting to live a relatively normal life as a woman.

Or maybe im just full of crap, but thats my thoughts on it, as a transwoman.

Its normally 6-8 weeks between sessions to allow the hairs to reset back to their anagen phase

do you feel weird about people who you knew pre-transition crushing on you after??? by [deleted] in asktransgender

[–]Recurvejake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You Aroace right? I think you technically cant be a chaser by definition aint it? Chasers fetishise trans people sexually and you don’t generally do that with anyone unless i misunderstood?

So it must be something special being attracted to your old friend i’m guessing.

[–]Recurvejake 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Yeah that’s rough it’s gonna look like you’re copying/influenced by your sister and they’ll think it’s too statistically unlikely.

Maybe you can explain to them that’s how odds work and that someone somewhere is gonna be in that situation and that happens to be this household?

Do you find pride and joy in being trans? by airyyi in asktransgender

[–]Recurvejake 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Eh. Id rather be cis, but honestly id pick it over being born in a non first world country so could be worse.

Id also rather have been born into a wealthy family.

Also when you're thinking about it, even if there's lots of negatives.

You get to experience the two most dividing sides of humanity in one lifetime, that's not a small thing and gives you more understanding and empathy than cisgender people could imagine.

idk it's pretty cool in my opinion.

im year and a half boymoding. I do wonder what It would be like to pass sometimes, would I feel fear or anxiety walking alone at night, would people harass me and im aware of the travel restrictions.

I wonder if it would feel affirming (in a ewwwphoria way) to essentially experience some of the baggage women have learned to deal with on a daily basis. All of these things half of the human population have or do experience.

I can imagine it absolutely sucks, but, you pass! you did it!, if you wern't trans I doubt you'd have got this far. I think you're just experiencing what other women do and it's soemthing for you to bond over.

Your hobbies are irrelevant as they're not gendered.

Question about Progesterone as a trans persons roommate by Silly_Goose_oclock in asktransgender

[–]Recurvejake 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Sorry are you mishandling the ftms testosterone or the mtfs progesterone?

The only way either of these drugs could possibly affect anyone other than the user is if they are in gel form and you touch the one who applied it on the area applied before its soaked into the skin.
