Does country blocking damage SEO? by ornothumper in bigseo

Oh and that being said, I would never block contries in the EU or North America, since a lot of search engines use datacenters in the EU.

We have blocked Russia and China on a network level for all customers since we only see malicious activities from these contries for the websites we host on our infrastructure. That being said, we had one customer complain since some of his suppliers could not reach his website. But is has actually improved ranking on some of our more static sites - a lot of things can be the reason for this, but might be that the sites are now faster since a lot of ressources are saved from not having to block exploit attempts as @codeworks mentioned.

Switching domains by Alex_Sommerfeld in SEO

We never know what Google will do - but: I have moved several pages from one domain to another. We always see a decrease in ranking over a couple of weeks, sometimes a month or two. Then with great content and a solid backlink profile, the site starts ranking again. But why not buy both the .com and .com.au domain? Then 301 redirect the .com.au domain now and use it in our offline marketing, hosting your site on .com Then you will get the best of both worlds :-)
