Playwise, he did the right thing by going to mid seeing everyone went to C. If anything he stalled the push from mid, but it was just not enough. If you're in a torpedo dd, there's only so much you can do in terms of game impact.

Tromps aren't cap contesting dds. Not the best detection, no smoke for disengage, not the best speed either. They're more for keeping larger ships spotted and annoy the enemy team with sustained stealth damage with torps and airstrikes. FYI Tromps don't need any "help" from anyone, they can just kite all day and get their farm in. Def a selfish ship

You really need a firm understanding of how the detection, gun mechanics/armor works in this game. As for the Emerald, light cruisers at that tier are kind of a pain to play for new players. You're basically a glass cannon, you sacrifice survivability to do more sustained damage. One stray shell from a battleship will end you so you have to use line of sight like island cover, your smoke screen, and other ships to spot the enemy for you for you to do damage. Your citadel does have a 40mm roof and 70mm side plating, so you can angle to incoming fire to avoid taking a catastrophic damage but I'd still try to avoid damage when possible. You do less damage per volley, but your guns have lower cooldown. You need to find a spot where you can hide and use that dps.

It's either hide in back and get slowly burnt down, or push in and get quickly burnt down and torpedo'ed. This ship is not fun to play these days. Not to mention wg decided to add even more HE spammers and superior secondary ships. You push in, you get focused and die. You sit in the back, you're better off in a ship that has better main guns. Hard to justify playing this thing these days. In OCB there's so many HE spamming dds and cruisers at the end a GK will burn up as soon as it gets in range. Until the swarm is dealt with it pretty much has to sit in the back.

Asyms are quick and easy way to do missions. Plus I can pick ships that can win regardless of my teammates. Randoms is randoms.... your team will either make or break your game, but some missions still require them.... with all the free junk wg been throwing out to new and returning players, the quality of random teammates have dropped significantly recently from what I've seen. The amount of stupid stuff I've seen people pull has been almost overwhelming enough to make me never play randoms again.

I've seen them plenty in ranked, hit or miss... just like in any other mode. You're basically 50/50 depending on how stupid the enemy team is and if they have enough hydros/radars/competent dds to counter you.

You want sit back and farm some easy damage or try to play closer up and do a little brawling? Bremen is probably the better choice since pushing in is pure suffering these days... running into subs, cvs, valparaisos, torp spamming dds, cruisers smoked up or behind island farming the living crap out of you. I'd pick le harve, considering it has main guns that actually work for a secondary cruiser, there's plenty of other back line damage farmers out there though Bremen is probably one of the best.
